Apprentice accused of laundering over €14,000 in Laois

An apprentice electrician appeared in court accused of laundering over €14,000 in Laois. 

Jack Tobin (24) of 8 Buttercup Avenue, Esker Hills, Portlaoise, is accused of money laundering the sum of €14,118.62 in Laois on a date between June 28 and July 4, 2024. 

Solicitor Josephine Fitzpatrick said her client was an apprentice electrician who was in his second year of training. 

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the DPP had directed that the case be heard on indictment, meaning it will go to the higher circuit court. 

Judge Andrew Cody adjourned the matter back to Portlaoise District Court on February 9 for service of the book of evidence.
