Woman in court accused of stealing from shops in Laois

The woman is alleged to have stolen over €1,500 worth of goods from shops in Laois and Kilkenny

A woman appeared in court accused of stealing over €1,500 worth of goods from shops. 

Vandana Munteanu (29) of 3 Railway Street, Portlaoise, is accused of stealing goods valued at €102.90 from Homestore, Portlaoise on March 21, a suitcase valued at €99.99 from TK Maxx, Portlaoise on July 11, cosmetics valued at €400 from Tesco Extra, Laois Shopping Centre on September 15, items valued at €17 from Clelands, Abbeyleix on December 12 and items €1,240 from Mcauley Pharmacy, High Street, Kilkenny on October 12. 

She appeared before a sitting of Portlaoise District Court where Solicitor Barry Fitzgerald requested disclosure and legal aid. 

Judge Andrew Cody ordered disclosure, granted legal aid and adjourned the case back to Portlaoise  District Court on January 19, 2026
