The driver of a Toyota Hilux picked up a lot of problems in Laois when they were stopped by a Garda Roads Policing Unit this week.
The Gardaí have reported that their unit was on a High visibility patrol in Portlaoise when officers stopped the white pickup after an ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition scanner) showed an alert for no tax.
When the vehicle was stopped, the driver provided false details. A roadside drug test was carried out which tested positive for cocaine.
The driver was arrested and charged and the vehicle was seized and towed away.
Further enquiries by Gardaí confirmed that the driver was also serving both court and penalty points disqualifications.
