Laois Gardaí are investigating two separate thefts from vehicles this past weekend.
On Sunday January 18 at 2:50am, there was a theft of a golf club from a vehicle in Ballybrittas.
The vehicle was ransacked, and Gardaí believe this theft to be in connection with a number of vehicle interference incidents in the area, along with a burglary in Rathdowney.
An individual has been arrested, detained and charged with a number of offences, and has appeared before the courts in relation to these matters.
"It is important to highlight that the vehicles targeted during these incidents were left unsecured," Laois Gardaí said of the Ballybrittas interferences.
"We are reminding the public to lock vehicles at all times, remove property, and avoid leaving valuables on display, even for short periods.
"Simple preventative steps reduce opportunity and remain one of the most effective ways of preventing this type of crime," Gardaí finished.
Separately, Gardaí are also investigating the theft of hubcaps from a vehicle in Portlaoise. On January 18 at 8pm, hub caps were taken off a vehicle on Buttercup Avenue.
Gardaí have asked any witnesses with information to come forward.
