Men accused of burglary at Portlaoise Train Station

Books of  evidence were served on two men who are accused of burglary at Portlaoise Train  Station. 

John O’Shea (34) of 20 O’Moore Place, Portlaoise, is accused of burglary and criminal damage at Bloom Coffee Box, Portlaoise Train Station on September 4, 2025. 

Andrew Conroy (55) of Apartment 3, Hinds Square, Portlaoise is accused of burglary at Bloom Coffee Box, Portlaoise Train Station, Portlaoise on September 4, 2025. He is further accused of burglary and causing criminal damage at Bozz Barber, Main Street, Portlaoise, on September 8 and with trespass at an address on Coote Street and burglary at Bosco’s Gala, Mountrath Road, Portlaoise on the same date.  

Garda Lisa Murray gave evidence of serving the book of evidence on Mr O’Shea and serving a book of evidence on Mr Conroy’s solicitor Josephine Fitzgerald at a sitting of Portlaoise District Court

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the DPP had directed that both men be sent forward for trial to Portlaoise Circuit Court on February 17. He said there were two counts in the book of evidence for Mr O’Shea and five counts in the book of evidence for Mr Conroy. 

Judge Susan Fay gave each of the men an alibi warning before sending their cases forward to the next sittings of Portlaoise Circuit Criminal Court on February 17. She certified for legal aid for one solicitor and one barrister in both cases and remanded the defendants in custody.
