Woman accused of assault and damaging Christmas lights in Laois

Portlaoise District Court

A woman appeared in court accused of assault and damaging Christmas decorations. 

Nakita Grogan (36) of 16 Ballymorris Manor, Portarlington, Laois is accused of assault causing harm at an address at Ballymorris Manor on February 26 and causing €285 of criminal damage to Christmas lights and a gutter at another address in Ballymorris Manor on February 25, 2026. 

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby told a sitting of Portlaoise District Court that he was seeking an eight week adjournment in order to get DPP’s directions. 

Solicitor Philip Meagher said he had no objection to the adjournment. He requested legal aid for his client. 

Judge Susan Fay granted legal aid and adjourned the case back to Portlaoise District Court on May 11 for DPP directions.
