Portlaoise District Court
A man appeared in court accused of robbing a handbag in Portlaoise.
Stephen Lyons (29) of 16 Arlington Estate, Portarlington, is accused of robbery of a handbag and its contents valued at €80 at Tower Hill, Portlaoise on November 8, 2025.
He is further accused of assault and producing a large wooden plank at the Odeon Cinema, Portlaoise on the same date and of using a stolen bank card to buy €30 amber leaf tobacco from Applegreen, Dublin Road, Portlaoise, and €10 worth of panadol from Boston Pharmacy, Dublin Road, Portlaoise and two litres of Avonmore milk valued at €4 from Browns Shop in Portlaoise on the same date.
Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said a book of evidence would be required in relation to allegations of assault, robbery and production of an article. He said the other theft matters were summary and could remain in the district court.
Judge Catherine Ryan ordered disclosure and adjourned the case back to Portlaoise District Court on April 27 for service of the book of evidence.
