Learner driver arrested in Laois after speeding on M7 with three small kids

Gardaí have arrested a learner driver in Laois who was speeding on the M7 motorway with three small children in the car.

The incident was reported on Thursday, March 19 by the Laois Offaly Garda Division.

The Laois roads policing unit stopped a car that was speeding at 167 km/hr in a 120km/hr zone on the M7.

They found that the driver was an unaccompanied Learner Permit holder.

The driver had three young children aged under 5 in the rear.

Gardaí note the multiple offences committed. 

The driver was not licensed to drive alone. They were not driving at a safe speed.

As a learner they were not permitted on a motorway.

They also say that the driver was "not putting vulnerable passengers first".

The driver was arrested and charged and will now face a court appearance.
