Gardaí apprehend four drivers allegedly under the influence on Laois roads

Laois Gardaí apprehended four drivers who were allegedly driving under the influence on Laois roads last weekend.

On Friday March 27 on the Athy road, Gardaí stopped a driver at 10pm for a speed check. The driver tested positive for cocaine.

On Sunday March 29 at half past midnight on Coote Street, Portlaoise gardaí allegedly detected a strong smell of alcohol from a driver. The driver failed the breath test, and has since been charged.

Also on March 29, Gardaí arrested a driver on French Church Street Portarlington at 2:10pm. The driver allegedly tested positive for canabis, and a sample has been sent for analysis.

On the M7 in Ballycider, Portlaoise on Sunday March 29, a driver allegedly failed a roadside breath test and tested positive for cannabis and cocaine.

Samples have been sent for analysis.
