Two men remanded in custody over robbery of Portlaoise shop

Two men have appeared in court charged with the robbery of a shop in Portlaoise last week.
Ricky O’Shea, 29, of 37 Oakleaf Place, Portlaoise and Patrick Lawless, 39, of no fixed abode were each charged with the robbery of €500 in cash and cigarettes valued at €60 from Esker Hills Supermarket on November 8.
The court was told neither accused made any reply after caution when charged with the robbery.
Judge Andrew Cody granted legal aid to both defendants. He remanded them in custody to appear before a sitting of Portlaoise District Court next week.
