Allegedly dealing heroin in Portlaoise's Lyster Square

Large garda  presence in Portlaoise operation a precautionary measure

Lyster Square Portlaoise.

A man was remanded in custody for allegedly selling heroin in Lyster Square in Portlaoise. 

Patrick Kelly, 25, of 36 Oakleaf Place, Portlaoise was charged with possession of heroin for sale or supply at Lyster Square on November 23 last. 

The court was told the Laois Drugs Unit were on patrol in Lyster Square when they saw the accused in the front passenger seat of a car. The car drove into a parking space and the defendant was seen with a bag in his right hand and the car was searched. In total eight bags of suspected heroin were discovered. 

Judge Andrew Cody remanded the defendant in custody to reappear before Portlaoise District Court by videolink on December 1.
