Laois Gardai warn of scam email claiming to come from office of Garda Commissioner

Online fraud and scams - What they are and how to spot them

Laois Gardai issued advice in relation to a new scam email purporting to come from the office of the Garda Commissioner.

The e-mail is titled ‘Police arrest’ and is sent along with a link inviting people to view a case.

It states in capitalised English:  “PLEASE CONTACT US AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO VIEW THE FILE 00111D998040048Y4 FILE TEACHING YOU TO BE HEARD IN ORDER TO AVOID POLICE AND PHYSICAL INTERVENTIONS IN THE FAILURE OF YOUR SILENCE…”

Laois Gardai urged anyone who receives the email to delete it and not to respond or click on any links.
