Fine for cocaine possession in Portlaoise

Man remanded on €35,000 Laois drugs charge

Man appeared at Portlaoise District Court

A man who admitted having cocaine in Portlaoise has been fined €150. 

Michael Houlihan, 41, of 10 Lakeglen, Portlaoise admitted possessing €30 of the drug at Lakeglen, Portlaoise on March 12 last. 

Sgt JJ Kirby told a sitting of Portlaoise District Court the man has 14 previous convictions but none for drugs. 

Judge Michelle Finan fined the man €150 and gave him 12 months to pay.
