A man was remanded on bail on charges of importing cannabis.
Darragh Murphy, 32, of 72 The Fairways, Abbeyleix appeared before a sitting of Portlaoise District Court. He was charged with importing controlled substances, namely cannabis on June 30, 2020 and a similar charge on July 1, 2020.
Gardai said there was no objection to bail under agreed conditions. They estimated the book of evidence would take around six weeks to prepare.
Judge Patricia Cronin set bail at €1,000 in cash and said the defendant was to reside at the address provided, had to abstain from illegal substances and sign on weekly at a local garda station.
