Sniffer dog plays big part in drug seizure in Portlaoise mail centre

Cannabis seized in Portlaoise after being detected by Stella the dog.

Revenue officers at the Portlaoise Mail Centre seized 8kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of €160,000.

The drugs were discovered today (16/11/2017), following routine profiling, when Revenue detector dog, Stella, gave a positive indication on a parcel that had been consigned from Romania to an address in Co Wicklow.

Investigations are on-going with a view to prosecution.
