Laois Gardaí make progress in investigation into violent incident Irish Rail compound

Third man detained in relation to incident at Irish Rail compund in Laois.

Laois Gardaí investigating an incident of assault and false imprisonment in Kilbricken, Mountrath, that occurred in early December have arrested a third man in relation to the incident.

Gardaí say the man, aged 35, was detained this afternoon Sunday,  December 17. He is currently detained at Portlaoise Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.

Last Friday, December 15, two men were brought before Portlaoise District Court in relation to the incident. 

Patrick Martin (27), St Mullins, Carlow, and Patrick Cunningham (20), Myshall, Carlow, were both charged with robbery at Kilbricken, Mountrath, on December 5.

An Irish Rail security guard was seriously injured during the incident. He was locked in the boot of his car where he was left for 10 hours.
