Man arrested at the scene of burglary in Laois

Gardai in Laois arrested one man at the scene of a burglary over the weekend.

The burglary took place at Main Street, Mountrath on Sunday, December 17 at approximately 4:50am.

It is understood the man was stealing fuel such as coal and turf to the value of €80 after he gained access to the courtyard of a pub having forced his way through a side gate.

The man in his early 20s who is understood to be from the area was charged and is due to be brought before Portlaoise District Court on December 21.
