Woman shoplifted from Portlaoise store

A woman stole over €120 of goods from a local store.

Sgt JJ Kirby gave evidence that on January 3 this year, Mary Oti entered Tesco in Portlaoise and stole a number of household items and personal care items, to a value of €126.86.

She proceeded to the checkout and part paid for some of the items, but left without paying for other items.

There was a co-accused in the case who received an adult caution, said Sgt Kirby.

The accused had two previous convictions, for theft and using a false instrument.

Judge Staines asked her did she have anything to say in relation to the offence, to which the accused replied that she did not.

The matter was put back to April 5 next for a probation report.
