Gardai seek information after knife point robbery in Laois

Gardai are appealing for information after an armed robbery at a petrol station in Portlaoise over the weekend.

The robbery took place on Sunday evening at 6.15pm at the Campus Oil filling station on the Mountmellick Road.

Two men entered the shop, one of them carrying a knife.

It's understood one went in behind the counter and ordered a member of staff to open the till, threatening the person with the knife.

The pair made off with a quantity of cigarettes and money.

Laois/Offaly Crime Prevention Officer Graham Kavanagh said: “This was 6.15pm in the evening on a busy stretch of road.

“If you are saw anyone acting suspiciously or are aware of who was involved, please contact Portlaoise Garda Station.”
