Thieves use Storm Hector to strike at Laois carpark

Ridge Road carpark Portlaoise.
Laois council left out of pocket as thieves use Storm Hector to strike at public carpark in Portlaoise.
A pay and display machine in the Ridge Road carpark was vandalised with money taken in the process overnight Thursday when the storm hit.
Laois County Coucil staff were on the scene this morning repairing the equipment.
Apart from loosing revenue in the machine it is expected the council will lose income until the machine is repaired.
It is likely that the sound of the storm would have damped the noise made by thieves.
A witness who parked in the carpark this morning said it did not appear that cars had not been hit. The machine was described as being badly damaged.
