A Mountmellick woman has been charged with two counts of theft.
Before last week's sitting of Portlaoise District Court was Stacey Kelly, Mountmellick.
Sgt JJ Kirby gave evidence that on November 2, 2017, the accused entered Dunnes Stores and tried on a jacket, leaving the store without paying.
She ran off and was later arrested, said Sgt Kirby.
Sgt Kirby further gave evidence that three days later the accused went to Boots and stole items to a value of €122.
The accused had 31 previous convictions, 24 for theft.
Sgt Kirby said that a lot of these offences were amassed over a six-month period in 2017.
Defence, Ms Josephine Fitzpatrick said the accused was due back before the circuit court later in the year.
The matter was adjourned to December 20 next, to await the outcome of the report due before the circuit court.
