Drugs worth €10,000 seized from man at Electric Picnic

Gardaí report Electric Picnic 2018 "went well".

A Dublin man faces drug dealing charges after his arrest at the Electic Picnic where he was found in posession of €10,000 worth of drugs.

The individual was detained on Friday and is understood to have been in posession of a variety of drugs which Gardaí believe was intended for sale.

The man was among up to 35 people detained on suspicion of sale or supply at this year's event in Stradbally, Co Laois.

In the region of 450 other people were arrested by Gardaí in possesion of prohibited substances.

It is understood that a wide variety of drugs were seized.

Laois Offaly Division Garda Chief Superintendent John Scanlon said that all those arrested and found to have been in posession of illegal substances will be processed through the legal system regardless of who they are.

Special Court sittings are convened in 2019 to process the posession cases.

A Garda drug enforcement unit was on duty throughout the weekend with Friday understood to be the busies. Some 350 Gardaí policed the event.
