Caused disturbance in Portarlington filling station

A Mountmellick woman has been fined for causing a disturbance in a Portarlington shop.

At Portlaoise District Court was Tracey McKevitt (33), College Avenue, Mountmellick, charged with disorderly conduct at Maxol Service Station, Main Street, Portarlington, on December 31, 2017.

Sgt Jason Hughes gave evidence that the accused was annoying customers in the shop and was asked to leave, but she continued to be abusive to the gardaí. The gardaí tried to move on her on, but she continued to be abusive.

Defence, Mr Barry Fitzgerald said the accused had received a custodial sentence recently, which was under appeal.

He said the accused was “trying to get her house in order”.

Judge Catherins Staines convicted and fined the accused €40.
