The men appeared before a sitting of Portlaoise District Court
Two men have appeared in court in connection with the alleged theft of €100,000 in cash during a burglary in Laois.
Roman Lakatos (56) and Roman Lavu (22) both of 47 Sean Doire, Durrow, are each accused of burglary and the theft of €100,000 in cash at a residential address in Laois on November 11, 2025.
Lavu appeared before Portlaoise District Court via video link before Judge Tom MacSharry.
Solicitor Josephine Fitzpatrick asked if DPP directions were ready in the case.
Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said directions had not been received but the file is very nearly complete. Judge MacSharry adjourned the case back to November 9.
Lakatos then appeared, also by video link and he too had his case adjourned back to November 9 for DPP directions. Judge MacSharry requested a Slovakian interpreter for the next appearance.
Ms Fitzpatrick said her client was due to make a bail application in the High Court in the coming days.
“If he is not on bail he will be produced on video link. If he is released he will be here,” she told Judge MacSharry.
