Tributes pour in for 'a lovely gracious' Laois lady following her passing

Tributes have been pouring in for Mary Ryan of Forestpark Ave., Portlaoise, Co. Laois following a short illness borne with grace in Naas General hospital. 

Messages of condolences have been left on Mary's rip.ie page describing her as "lovely, stylish lady".

One person said: "Mary was such a lovely gracious lady who will be greatly missed. Also thinking of your Dad at this time. Sleep well Mary."

Another wrote: "A wonderful lady we have such fond memories of between holidays in Lahinch and visits to Portlaoise, thoughts are with all her family."

A former colleague said: "A true lady. Great memories of our time while in office in Heath Golf Club."

Another person said: "She was a lovely stylish lady and always a pleasure to chat with, RIP Mary"

Mary Ryan is predeceased by her husband Tommy, sister Nelly (Kavanagh), brothers Liam, Michael (Boffy), Pat and son-in-law Kevin (O'Brien). She is sadly missed by her loving family Gráinne, Elaine, Thérèse, Aidan and Catherine, adored grandchildren David, Dylan, Clíona, Lauren, Olivia, Emmy and Jack, sons in law Stuart and Eamonn, daughter-in-law Alena, sister Breda, brothers Jim, Joe and Jer, good friend Maeve, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, family relatives and friends.

Mary's family would like to express their gratitude to the wonderful staff of Mill Lane nursing home in Naas, Mary's home for the last couple of years and the very caring staff of Naas General Hospital.

Mary's funeral took place on Wednesday on February 19, 2025, at 11am in SS Peter and Paul's Church, Portlaoise.
