Hughie Murphy - Rathdowney / Borris-in-Ossory

The death took place on Friday April 18 of Hughie (Hugh) Murphy, Knockiel Drive, Rathdowney, Laois / Borris-in-Ossory, Laois

Passed away April 18th 2025, after an illness bravely borne, peacefully, surrounded by his loving and devoted family in the exceptional care of the staff at St. Clare's Ward, Beaumont Hospital, Dublin.

Predeceased by his father Hughie, grandparents Mary and Paddy Houlihan (Garron, Borris in Ossory).

Hughie will be dearly missed by his mother Winnie (née Houlihan) and her partner Steve, brother Garvin, aunts Maureen, Dymphna, Joan and Kathleen, uncle Dan, cousins, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Guilfoyle's Funeral Home, Castletown, (Eircode R32TN84), this Tuesday (April 22nd) from 7pm to 8pm.

Hughie's funeral cortege will arrive at St. Fergal's Church, Camross on Wednesday (April 23rd) for Funeral Mass at 11am, followed by burial in St. Fergal's Cemetery, Camross.

Family flowers only. Donations, if desired, to Cuisle Cancer Support Centre, Portlaoise. Donation box in Funeral Home and Church.

Paula Coss - Portlaoise/Mountrath

The death took place on Saturday, April 19 of Paula Coss (née Jennings), Newline Close Mountrath and formerly Parnell Crescent Portlaoise.

Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her son Michael, brother William and sister Sally. Deeply regretted by her loving husband Paddy, daughters Sarah, Emma, Katie, Holly and Chloe, sons Ricky, Scott and Paddy. Brother, sisters, sons-in-law, father and mother-in-law Frank and Mary Coss, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, her 10 adored grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at her son Ricky's residence, 28 Rosvale Court, Portlaoise (R32XRR3) on Tuesday April 22nd from 4pm till 8pm with Rosary at 7pm. Removal on Thursday morning at 10:15 to arrive at SS Peter and Paul's Church, Portlaoise from 11am Requiem Mass. Interment will follow afterwards in SS Peter and Paul's cemetery.

House private on Wednesday please.

Mary Deady - Errill

The death took place on Easter Sunday, April 20 of Mary Deady (née Tierney) Lower Bluepool and late of Deady's Shop, Percival Street, Kanturk, Cork / Late of Errill, Co. Laois.

In the excellent care of the staff at Mallow General Hospital, Mary beloved wife of the late Dermot and sister of the late Sheila (Walsh). Sadly missed by her loving sister Teresa (Kelly), brother Joe, nephews, nieces, extended family especially Joan, relatives and friends. Requiescat in pace.

Lying in repose at O' Callaghan's Funeral Parlour on Tuesday from 7pm to 8pm followed by Prayers. Reception into the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Kanturk on Wednesday for Requiem Mass at 12 noon which shall be live streamed on www.church services.tv/kanturk.

Funeral afterwards to the adjoining cemetery.

Hannah Kirk - Abbeyleix

The death took place on April 20 of Hannah Kirk (née Gibbons), Boley, Abbeyleix, Laois / formerly Dungarvan village, Kilkenny.

Peacefully in the care of the Regional Hospital Portlaoise, surrounded by her devoted children Ger, Jim, Siobhan & Pat. Predeceased by her parents Andy & Stastia Gibbons, brothers Sean Gibbons (Clare) Sam Gibbons (Gowran) & sister Patsy Kirk (Dungarvan).

Deeply regretted by her loving sons Ger, Jim & Pat, daughter Siobhan, son-in-law Paul, daughter-in-law Lorraine, her adored and much loved grandchildren Andrew, Jack, Matthew, Hannah & Sophie. Brothers Andy (Dublin), Lar & Shem (Kilkenny), nieces, nephews, extended family & friends.

Reposing at her residence from 2pm. to 8pm. on Monday with prayers at 7.30 pm. Removal to St' Brigid's Church Shahahoe for 12 noon Requiem Mass on Tuesday. Interment afterwards in Shanahoe Cemetery.

Rosaleen Cole - Portlaoise

The death took place on Friday, April 18 of Rosaleen Cole (née Howe), Dublin Road, Portlaoise and formerly of Townsend Street, Birr.

Passed away peacefully and unexpectedly, in the tender care of Kilminchy Nursing Home.

Predeceased by her parents David and Margaret, sister Marion and niece Lynn.

Beloved Mother of Susan (Notley) and Ivan, dear Grandmother of Harry, Tom and Simon, and sister of David. Sadly missed by her son-in-law Cyril and daughter-in-law Sinéad. Fondly remembered by her sister-in-law, niece, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephew, great-grandniece, relatives and a wide circle of friends.

Funeral Service will take place in St. Brendan’s Church, Oxmantown Mall, Birr at 2pm on Wednesday 23rd April, followed by burial in Clonoghill Cemetery. Family flowers only.

Bruce Walter McDonald - Durrow

The death has occurred of Bruce Walter MacDonald Great Falls, Virginia, USA and Ormsby House, Durrow, Laois / Glengarriff, Cork.

On December 8, 2024, unexpectedly but peacefully in Great Falls, Virginia.

Predeceased by his brother, Lloyd, sister, Marcia and parents, Charles and Ruth of Cincinnati, Ohio. Bruce is deeply mourned by his devoted wife, Rita Campion, his siblings, Charles and Charlene, aunt, Bonnie, sister-in-law, Linda, Bruce’s Campion brothers and sisters-in-law, Canon Michael, Miriam (John), Tadhg (Colleen) and Constance (Awwad), loving nieces and nephews, special cousins, extended family and many dear and wonderful friends and colleagues.

Requiem Mass at 2.30pm on Saturday, April 26th at Saint Joseph’s Church, Coomhola, Bantry, Co. Cork, P75 XO43, followed by burial at Saint James Churchyard, Durrus, Co. Cork, P75 R295. A recording of the funeral will be available at https://corklivestream.com/funerals.
