Elsie Morrin - Stradbally

The death took place on April 12 of Elsie Morrin (née Hickey), Loughteague, Stradbally, Laois

Elsie passed away peacefully at her residence in her 97th year surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her husband Paddy. Deeply regretted by her family, Michael, Ann, Mary, Tommy, Pat, Ellen, Andy and Jimmy, her grandchildren Denis, David, Bea, Aideen, Oisín, Colum, Dermot, Tony and Paul, her daughters-in-law Teresa, Madeleine, Beatrice and Anne-Marie, son-in-law Mark, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at her residence (R32 R5T8) on Monday from 4pm to 8pm and Tuesday from 2pm to 8pm with recital of the rosary at 8pm both evenings. Removal by Whelehan Funeral Directors on Wednesday morning at 11:30am to arrive at the Church of the Holy Cross, Ratheniska (R32 TD39) for 12 noon Requiem Mass. Which can be viewed on the church webcam https://www.portlaoiseparish.ie/ratheniska-webcam/ Internment to follow in adjoining cemetery.

Sheila Flood - Ballylinan

The death took place on April 12 of Sheila Flood (née Malone), Oldcourt Lodge, Ballylinan, Laois, R14 T251 / formerly of Kill, Kildare. 

Peacefully in the loving care of Cloverlodge Nursing Home, Athy. Predeceased by her loving husband John (Jack), sister Veronica and brother Pat.

Sheila will be sadly missed by her daughter Margaret, sons John, Seamus and Noel, brother Seán, son-in-law Laurence, daughters-in-law Leori, Dulce and Pamela, loving grandchildren, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at her home Oldcourt Lodge (R14 T251) on Tuesday afternoon (April 14th) from 4pm with Rosary at 7pm. Removal on Wednesday morning (April 15th) to arrive at St. Anne's Church, Ballylinan for Requiem Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in St. Corban's Cemetery, Naas.

Kieran Deegan - Mountmellick

The death took place on April 12 of Kieran Deegan, Kirwan Park, Mountmellick, Laois

Peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore. Predeceased by his parents James (Jim) and Elizabeth (Lil), brothers Jack and Tom, parents-in-law Bridge and Charlie, niece Michelle, nephews Brendan and Kevin and all other family members.

Deeply regretted by his loving wife Mary, family Keith, Eric, Kirsty, Tommy, Gary, Irissa, Ciara and Emma, adoring grandchildren, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and a large circle of friends.

Reposing in Mahers Chapel of Rest Portarlington (eircode R32 X5XV) on Tuesday evening from 6pm with Rosary at 8pm. Removal from his residence on Wednesday morning at 10:20am arriving St Joseph's Church Mountmellick for Requiem Mass at 11am. Funeral afterwards to St Joseph's Cemetery Mountmellick.

Martin Costello - Portarlington

The death took place on April 10 of Martin Costello, Birch Grove, Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin and formerly of Portarlington, Co. Laois.

Peacefully, surrounded by his family. Martin; dearly beloved husband of Tess, much loved and devoted father to Deirdre and the late Michael. Sadly missed by his loving wife, daughter, daughter-in-law Sylvia, grandchildren Gavin, Sarah, Becky, Sylvia and Martin, great-grandchildren Nathan, Aila, Lilly, Kaiden, Reggie, Jack, Sadie and Theo, great great-granddaughter Emmarae, relatives, friends and neighbours.

Mary White - Rathdowney

The death took place on April 12 of Mary White, (née Bowe), Graiguegarron, Rathdowney, Laois

Mary White, née Bowe, died peacefully at Brookhaven Nursing Home Ballyragget, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday 12th April 2026.

Predeceased by her husband Pake, her grandson Niall, sisters Kit and Anne, and her brother Tom. Deeply regretted by her loving family, daughters Catherine and Rita, sons Tommy, Phil, Pat and Billy, her adored grandchildren Eoghan, Niamh, Carole, Sean, Ciaran, Ciara, Laura, Emily, Jack, Billy and Lauren, her cherished great grandchildren , daughters-in-law Veronica, Mary and Anita, son-in-law Enda, brothers Phil and Ned, sisters-in-law Peg and Peggy, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and a close circle of friends.

Mary will repose at Brookhaven Nursing Home Ballyragget Co. Kilkenny (R95YP63), on Monday 13th April from 3pm concluding with Rosary at 8pm. Removal from her home on Tuesday, 14th April to arrive at the Church of The Immaculate Conception Galmoy, Co. Kilkenny (E41W257), for Requiem Mass at 12 midday, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Patrick Fanton - Mountrath

The death took place on April 11 of Patrick Fanton, Meadow Vale, Smith’s Road, Charleville, Co. Cork and late of Mountrath, Portlaoise, Co. Laois.

Patrick passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving wife and family in Charleville new nursing home on Saturday, April 11th, 2026.

Beloved husband of Mary (née O'Sullivan), much loved father of Eamonn and Maria and cherished granddad of Zack.

Sadly missed by his loving wife, family, brother Frank, niece Ashley, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing in Hawe - O'Keeffe's Funeral Home (P56 YY15), Bakers Road, Charleville, on Monday evening from 6:00pm with Prayers at 7:00pm, followed by Reception into Holy Cross Church, Charleville.

Requiem Mass on Tuesday afternoon at 2:00pm, after which Patrick will be laid to rest in Holycross Cemetery, Charleville.

The family would like to thank Anthony and all of the staff of Charleville nursing home, Mallow General Hospital and Nazareth House for the wonderful care and kindness shown to Patrick.

Adrian Freeman - Abbeyleix

The death took place on April 10 of Adrian Freeman, Ballypickas, Abbeyleix, Laois

Passed away peacefully after an illness surrounded by his loving family. He is predeceased by his beloved parents William and Mary and his siblings Christopher, Deidre and Gerard.

Beloved partner of Marian and much adored father of Ben and Eada, Adrian is deeply regretted and sadly missed by his heartbroken family, his brother Liam, sister Fidelma, brother-in-law Tony and his nieces and nephews, Stacie, Aaron, Katlyn and Tiernan, uncle and aunts, extended family, neighbours, and a wide circle of friends.

Adrian's family wish to sincerely thank Sonya and the Palliative Care Team, The Irish Cancer Society nurses, Dr Peter Kemple and the staff of St.James's Hospital.

Reposing at his home in Ballypickas on Sunday April 12th from 4pm. to 8pm. with prayers at 7pm. Removal on Monday April 13th to the Church Of The Most Holy Rosary Abbeyleix for funeral Mass at 12 noon .Burial afterwards in St. Patrick's Cemetery.

Ann Williams - Rathdowney

The death took place on April 7 of Ann Williams (née Whelan), Burnham on Crouch, Essex, UK and formerly of Harristown, Rathdowney, Laois.

It is with profound sadness Ann's family share the news of her passing which occurred on the 7th of April, 2026 following a long illness, bravely borne. Ann passed away peacefully surrounded by her heartbroken children and under the compassionate care of the staff at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford. Predeceased by her loving husband Keith and parents Jer and Ann.

Ann will be forever loved and deeply missed by her adoring children Catherine, Morgan, Jennifer and her grandchildren Ripley and Isabella. Also deeply mourned by her loving sisters Mary, Sheila, Susan, Lily, Brigid and Teresa her brothers Donal and Joe and her extended family. Also missed by her wide circle of kind and loyal friends both in Ireland and in the Burnham community.

She will repose at Paul J King Funeral Directors, Burnham-On-Crouch on April 21st. Requiem Mass will be celebrated by her dear friend Fr. Jerold on the 22nd of April at 11am in St. Cuthbert's Church Burnham, followed by cremation at Maldon Fields Crematorium at 12.30pm.

Sheila Carroll- Portlaoise

The death has occurred of Sheila Carroll (nee Fanton) Beladd, Portlaoise. Passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving relatives on 9th April 2026. Predeceased by her husband Chris (Con) Carroll and her brother Liam, and sisters Moira, Lily and Mai. Deeply regretted by her niece Annette Fitzpatrick and cousin Kathleen Ryan. And all her extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends. May she rest in peace.

Reposing at Keegans Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 6 pm until 7.30 pm with rosary at 7 pm. Removal on Wednesday to arrive at SS Peter and Paul's Church for 11 am requiem mass. Interment will follow in SS Peter and Pauls Cemetery, Portlaoise.
