Deaths in Laois - December 11, 2017

Valerie Watson - Errill

The death took place on Sunday, December 10 of Valerie Watson of St. Anthony's, Errill. 

Peacefully at Tullamore Hospital. Sadly missed by her husband Russ and her son Tony and her daughter Julie, daughter in law Fiona, grandchildren Sarah and Catherine and Chloe and great-granddaughter Lola and all her friends in Errill.

Reposing at her home St. Anthony's, Errill from 2pm on Tuesday evening. Memorial prayers in Errill church on Wednesday at 11.30am followed by cremation at Newlands Dublin arriving at 2pm. 

Anthony Christopher Marnell - Mountmellick and Dublin 

The death took place on Sunday, December 10 of Anthony Christopher Marnell of Clonterry, Mountmellick and formerly of Dublin. 

Unexpectedly. Predeceased by his loving son David. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Deirdre, son Tony, daughters Michelle and Audrey, daughter-in-law Bernadette, sons-in-law Trevor and Willie, sister Ann Canning, brother-in-law Ray, nieces and nephews, relatives, neighbours and many friends.

Reposing in Moloney's Funeral Home, Mountmellick, on Wednesday from 4.30pm, removal at 5.50pm to St. Joseph's Church, Mountmellick, arriving at 6pm. Requiem Mass on Thursday at 12 noon. Cremation after in Newlands Crematorium at 2.30pm. 

William Dann - Borris-in-Ossory

The death took place on Sunday, December 10 of William (Bill) Dann of Shanboe, Borris-in-Ossory.

Peacefully in the loving care of the staff at the Rivervale Nursing Home, Nenagh. In his 100th. year. Predeceased by his wife Nancy. Deeply regretted by his daughter Nancy, son in law Noel, grandchildren Conor and his wife Samantha, Mark and his wife Serena, great-grandchildren Isabelle and Adam, nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives, neighbours and his many friends.

Funeral arriving at St. Mark's Church, Borris in Ossory on Tuesday evening for prayers at 7.30pm. Funeral Service on Wednesday at 2pm with burial immediately afterwards in Skeirke cemetery.

Elizabeth Dunne - Vicarstown

The death took place on Saturday, December 9 of Elizabeth (Lil) Dunne (née O'C0nnell) Of Moyanna, Vicarstown.

Predeceased by her husband Michael (Mick). Deeply regretted by her daughters Nuala, Angela, Catherine and her son Michael, brother Michael, grandchildren, great grandchildren, daughter-in-law, sons-in-law, cousins, relatives and a large circle of friends.

Reposing at her residence this Sunday evening from 8pm with rosary at 9pm. Removal on Monday to the Church of the Assumption, Vicarstown, arriving at 7.30pm. Funeral Mass on Tuesday at 11am followed by burial in Moyanna Cemetery.

Patricia Cunningham - Portarlington

The death took place on Saturday, December 9 of Patricia (Dubbie) CUnningham (née Orange) of Station Road, Portarlington.

Peacefully at her residence. Sadly missed by her loving husband Don, family Jane, Luke, Mary, Donal and Petal, grandchildren Amy, Jimmy, D.J.,Addie, Jenny, Lucy, Caleb and Finn, brothers Paddy, Martin and Ciaran, sister Luby, daughter-in-law Fiona, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at her residence on Sunday from 2pm with Rosary at 8pm. Removal on Monday at 11:30am arriving St Michael's church Portarlington for Requiem Mass at 12:30pm Funeral afterwards to St Michael's cemetery Portarlington.

Kathleen Dooley - Ballyfin

The death took place on Saturday, December 9 of Kathleen Dooley (née Fitzpatrick) of Pallas, Ballyfin and formerly of Roundwood.

Peacefully at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her husband, Michael and her recently deceased son, Frank. Deeply regretted by her loving sons, daughters, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, sister-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Keegan's Funeral Home, Portlaoise from 4pm on Sunday evening with removal at 6pm to St. Fergal's Church, Camross, arriving at 7pm. Requiem Mass on Monday at 1 pm (Please note change ) followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery.

Frances Fitzgibbon - Portarlington

The death took place on Saturday, December 9 of Frances Fitzgibbon (née Kelly) Of Cullenagh, Ballyroan.

In the loving care of her family Elizabeth, Pat and Anne.Predeceased by her husband John. Sadly missed by her loving son and daughters, brothers, sisters, sons-in-law John (Lalor) and William (Bennett), grandchildren Shana, John and Colm, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at her home from 12 noon on Sunday with recital of the rosary in the house at 8pm. Funeral arriving for 11 am Mass on Monday 11th. December in St. Patrick's Church Ballyroan, with burial afterwards in St. Patrick's cemetery.

Jim McEvoy - Portarlington

The death took place on Saturday, December 9 of Jim McEvoy of Coolaghy, Portarlington.

Peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Regional Hospital Portlaoise. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Molly, sons John, Jimmy, Kieran and Michael, brothers, sisters, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

 Reposing at his residence on Saturday from 6pm with Rosary at 9pm. Reposing at his residence on Sunday with Removal at 6:20pm arriving St Paul's Church Emo at 7pm. Requiem Mass on Monday at 11am. Interment afterwards in the adjoining Cemetery.

Margaret Clooney - Rathdowney 

The death took place on Friday, December 8 of Margaret Clooney (née Madden) of Church Street, Rathdowney.

Unexpectedly at her home. Predeceased by her husband Paddy. Deeply regretted by her son Martin and her grandchildren John and Deirdre and her great-grandchild Darren, her sister Mary and her brother John, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at O' Sullivan's Funeral Home, Rathdowney on Sunday evening from 4pm with funeral prayers at 5:30 followed by removal to The Church Of The Holy Trinity, Rathdowney. Funeral Mass on Monday at 11am followed by burial in Rathdowney Local Cemetery.

Peter Phelan - Portarlington and Rathdowney

The death took place on Friday, December 8 of Peter Phelan of Pine Villa, Portarlington and formerly of Middlemount, Rathdowney.

Youngest son of Albert and Jane, deeply regretted by his brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Burke's Funeral Home, Mountrath this Sunday evening from 8pm  with Rosary at 9pm. Removal on Monday morning to The Church of the Immaculate Conception, Ballacolla, for Funeral Mass at 11am, followed by burial in St. Fergal's Cemetery, Ballacolla.
