Deaths in Laois - February 8, 2018

Mary Foley - Dublin and Durrow

The death took place on Thursday, February 8 of Mary (Mollie) Foley (née Dunphy) of Irishtown, Dublin and late of Durrow.

Peacefully, in the care of the staff of Mount Tabor Nursing Home. Beloved wife of the late Dinnie. She will be sadly missed by Paul, Christopher, Eileen, Margaret and Betty, brothers Mick and John, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing in Mount Tabor Nursing Home on Friday between 6.30pm and 8pm. Removal on Saturday to the Church of St Mary, Star of the Sea, Sandymount arriving at 9.50am for Funeral Mass at 10am followed by burial at Deans Grange Cemetery.

Maura Ryan - Rathdowney

The death took place on Wednesday, February 7 of Maura Ryan of Newtownperry, Rathdowney. 

Peacefully, in the care of the matron and staff of Corpus Christi Nursing Home, Mitchelstown. Beloved sister of Anne (Byrne). Sadly missed by her family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Requiem Mass on Saturday at 12 noon in the Church of the Holy Trinity, Rathdowney. Burial afterwards in the local cemetery.

Pauline Brophy - Rosenallis

The death took place on Wednesday, February 7 of Pauline Brophy (née Drennan) of Skerry, Rosenallis, and formerly of Portlaoise.

At St.Vincent's Hospital, Dublin. Deeply regretted by her husband Paul and sons Joseph, Peter and David, grandchildren Emma and John, Peter's partner Yvonne, mother-in-law Elizabeth, her sisters Lillian Egan, Mary Therese Burke, Rena Hilditch, Antoinette Foley Jones, brothers Peter and James, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law Marian Fingleton, nieces, nephews, neighbours, relatives and many friends.

Reposing in Moloney's Funeral Home, Mountmellick on Friday evening from 7pm, Recital of the Rosary at 9pm. Prayers in the Funeral Home on Saturday morning at 10am. Removal at 10.30am to St. Brigid's Church, Rosenallis for Requiem Mass at 11am. Cremation Service at 2pm in Newlands Cross Crematorium.

Maureen Fenlon - Ballybrittas

The death took place on Tuesday, February 6 of Maureen Fenlon (née Moran) of Ballybrittas. 

Peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Sadly missed by her daughters Caroline and Sarah. Predeceased by her husband Mick and son Pat. Deeply regretted by her family, brother Willie and sister Susie, brother-in-law Tom, sister-in-law Vera, daughter-in-law Carmel, son-in-law John, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at her residence on Wednesday from 2pm with Rosary at 8pm. Reposing Thursday from 12 noon with Rosary at 8pm. Removal on Friday morning at 11.30am to arrive at The Church of the Sacred Heart, Rath for 12 noon Requiem Mass. Interment to follow in New Cemetery, Emo. 

Paddy Kelly - Portlaoise 

The death took place on Tuesday, February 6 of Paddy Kelly of Portarlington Rd, Tullamore, Offaly and formerly of 133 St Brigid's Place, Portlaoise. Deeply regretted by his loving partner Eileen, sons Gordan, Garry and Patrick, daughters Kathleen and Louise, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives and friends.

Reposing at 133 St Brigid's Place on Thursday from 6pm with rosary recital at 8pm. Removal on Friday morning at 9.30am to Ss Peter & Paul's Church for 10am Requiem Mass. Interment afterwards in SS Peter & Paul's Cemetery.

Donal Keenan - Mountmellick 

The death took place on Monday, February 5 of Donal Keenan of Manor Road, Mountmellick.

After a very short illness at St Vincent’s Hospital, Dublin. Member of Army Post 27 Retired Irish Army Catering Corp, Curragh Camp. Pre-deceased by his dear parents Flor and Liz and brother Ned. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Cheryl, his son Daniel, and daughters Samantha and Elizabeth, grandchildren Darren and Tadhg, brothers and sisters, uncles and aunts, nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, neighbours, relatives, former Army colleagues and many friends.

Recital of the Rosary on Wednesday night at 9pm. Reposing in his home in Manor Road on Thursday from 2pm. Recital of the Rosary at 9pm. Funeral arriving to St. Joseph's Church, Mountmellick on Friday for 12 noon Requiem Mass. Burial after in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Sheila Matthews - Mountmellick 

The death took place on Monday, February 5 of Sheila (Tony) Matthews (née Phelan) of Sallynoggin, Dublin and formerly of 5, Lord Edward Street, Mountmellick.

Peacefully at home. Dearly beloved wife of the late William (Billy) and much loved mother of Noel, Jim, John and Patricia (Pat). Sadly missed by her loving sons, daughter, son-in-law Steve, daughters-in-law Josephine, Mary (Trini) and Irene, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister Mary, extended family and friends.

Reposing at her home on Wednesday evening from 5pm to 7pm. Removal on Friday morning to Our Lady of Victories Church, Sallynoggin arriving at 9.50am. Funeral immediately after 10am requiem Mass to Deans Grange Cemetery. 

Camillus Kenna - Dublin and Portarlington 

The death took place on Monday, February 5 of Camillus Kenna of Dublin and formerly of Bracklone St, Portarlington. Loving son of the late Billy and Teresa. Deeply regretted by his loving brothers Gerard and Declan, sister-in-law, nephew, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Maher's Chapel of Rest, Portarlington on Wednesday from 9am with Removal at 9.30am arriving St Michael's Church, Portarlington for Requiem Mass at 10am. Funeral afterwards to the St Michael's Cemetery, Portarlington.
 

John and Mary Brophy - Mountmellick

The death took place on Saturday, February 3 of John and Mary Brophy of 11 Davin Park, Mountmellick. 

Also known as Jack Maher and Molly. Died peacefully surrounded by their loving families in The Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise. Deeply regretted by their sons John and Noel, daughters Martina, Patricia and Majella, daughters-in-law Tracey and Ann, son-in-law Seamus, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, neighbours, relatives and a large circle of friends.

Jack and Molly will repose in their home from 5pm on Tuesday with Recital of The Rosary at 9pm. Family time on Wednesday morning please. Funerals arriving to St. Joseph's Church, Mountmellick on Wednesday for 12 noon Requiem Mass. Burials after in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
