Richard Slevin - Portarlington

The death took place on Wednesday, February 14 of Richard (Dick) Slevin of The Cottage and formerly Mount Henry, Killenard.

Peacefully at Saint James' Hospital, Dublin surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his wife Lilly. Deeply regretted by his family Christy, Nuala, Joe, Richard, Deirdre and Dan. Sadly missed by his daughters-in-law and partners, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at his son's residence at Mount Henry from 7pm Wednesday evening, with Recital of the Rosary at 9pm. Reposing Thursday until removal at 7pm to Saint John's Church for 7.30pm Prayers. Requiem Mass on Friday at 12 noon followed by Interment in adjoining cemetery.

John Bergin - Mountmellick and Roscrea

The death took place on Wednesday, February 14 of John Bergin of St. Vincent's Hospital, Mountmellick and Gurteen, Ballybritt, Roscrea.

Predeceased by his parents Jimmy and Mary and brother Pat. Deeply regretted by his brother Seamus, sister Bernadette, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and community of St. Vincents Hospital.

 Reposing in Tierney's Funeral Home, Roscrea on Thursday evening from 5pm with removal at 6.30pm arriving in St. Cronan's Church at 7pm. Funeral Mass on Friday at 12 noon followed by burial afterwards in Dungar Cemetery.

James Bergin - Rathdowney

The death took place on Tuesday, February 13 of James Bergin of Knockiel, Rathdowney.

Peacefully, at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Alice and his family Nicholas, Mary, Anna, Frances, Tim, Bernie, J.J and Sean, sons in law, daughters in law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, his sisters Ann and Bernadette, his brothers Tony and Danny, sisters in law Molly and Alice, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposing at his home on Thursday evening from 3pm with rosary at 8pm. Funeral prayers on Friday at 11am followed by removal to the Church of The Holy Trinity, Rathdowney for funeral Mass at 12 noon, followed by burial in Bealady Cemetery. 

Madge McEvoy - Portlaoise

The death took place on Tuesday, February 13 of Madge McEvoy (née Moore) of Capoley, Portlaoise. 

Peacefully surrounded by her loving family. In her 91st year. Madge, loving wife of the late Edward (Ned). Predeceased by her son-in-law Paddy. Dearly loved mam to Joe, Sarahanne Brennan, Ailish Lambert, Mary McEvoy and Breda Dempsey. Sadly missed by her loving family, sisters Nan Phelan, Bidgie Burke, brothers Jim Moore and Fint Moore, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, nephews, nieces, grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at her son Joe's residence at Capoley from 6pm on Wednesday evening with rosary at 8pm. On Thursday reposing at Keegans Funeral Home from 5.30pm with removal at 6.45pm to SS Peter and Paul’s Church. On Friday, Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 12 noon, followed by interment in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Portlaoise.

Catherine Bennett - Portlaoise

The death took place on Tuesday, February 13 of Catherine Bennett (née Booth) of Glendowns, Portlaoise, Laois

Formerly of The Heath. Beloved wife of the late Felix and much loved mother of Noel, Richard and Felix. Predeceased by her son John. Deeply regretted by her family, daughter-in-law Margaret, grandchildren Jessica and Sarah, brother Paddy, sister Ter, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives and friends.

Requiem Mass on Thursday at 12noon in St Peter & Paul's Church, Portlaoise. Interment afterwards in the New Cemetery Ballyfin.

Elizabeth Rogers - Portlaoise

The death took place on Tuesdya, February 13 of Elizabeth (Eilish) Rogers (née Conroy) of Borris Little, Portlaoise. 

Beloved wife of the late William. Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Deeply regretted by her loving son Billy, daughter Marie (Scully) and grandson David. Sadly missed by her brothers Pascal and Josie, sister Mera, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Keegan's Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 7pm with rosary at 8pm. Removal on Thursday morning to arrive at SS Peter and Paul’s Church for 10 am Requiem Mass. Interment afterwards in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Portlaoise.
 

Peter Breen - Mountrath

The death took place on Monday, February 12 of Peter Breen  (Snr) of Drim, Mountrath. 

Peacefully at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise. Deeply regretted and will be sadly missed by his loving wife Kathleen and family Eamonn, Peter, Andrea (Burke), Annemaire (O'Brien), Sean, Lynus, Madeline (Cuddy), Olivia (Delaney), Fidelma (Cuddy), Glenn and Nigal, sister Catherine, brother Fintain, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great- grandchild, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends.

Reposing at his home on Monday evening from 7pm with rosary in the house at 9pm, and on Tuesday evening from 6pm with rosary at 9pm. Removal this Wednesday morning at 11.30am to St. Edmund's Church, Castletown for Funeral Mass at 12 noon followed by burial in St. Fintan's Cemetery, Mountrath.

Dorothy Flanagan - Borris-in-Ossory 

The death took place on Monday, February 12 of Dorothy (Dora) Flanagan (née Jennings) of Rock Road, Borris-in-Ossory and formerly of Church Road, Belmullet, Co. Mayo.

Suddenly, at her home. Predeceased by her sister Margaret (Irwin). Deeply regretted and will be sadly missed her loving husband Patrick (P.J.), sons Noel, Kevin and Sean, daughter Sinead, brother Tommy, daughters in law, son in law, her cherished five grandsons and her five granddaughters, nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at her home on Tuesday and Wednesday evening from 4pm with rosary in the house both evenings at 9pm. Removal on Thursday morning at 10.30am to St. Canice's Church, Borris in Ossory, for Funeral Mass at 11am followed by burial in Derrinsallagh Cemetery, Borris in Ossory. 

Elizabeth Keyes - Moyadd

The death took place on Monday, February 12 of Elizabeth (Lizzie) (Bab) Keyes (formerly Cooney) (née Lynch) of Moyadd, The Swan.

Predeceased by her loving husbands John Keyes and Jim Cooney. Deeply regretted by her loving brothers Michael and Eamon, nephew David, niece-in-law Gillian, brother-in-law Bernard, sisters-in-law Sr. Rita and Carmel, nephews-in-law, nieces-in-law, cousins Michael, Dan, Lil, Jim and Larry, wonderful neighbours and many friends.

Reposing at Rigney's Funeral Home, Athy from 7pm on Monday, with Rosary at 8pm. Removal at 7.15pm on Tuesday evening to arrive at St. Lazerian's Church, Knock, Spink for 8pm. Requiem Mass at 1pm on Wednesday afternoon with burial afterwards in Clogh Cemetery, Co. Kilkenny.

Dick Costigan - Ballinakill

The death took place on Sunday, February 11 of Dick Costigan of Ballypickas, Ballinakill.

In the care of the staff of Beaumont Hospital, Dublin. Deeply regretted by his loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at his niece Catherine's residence, Ralish, Ballypickas from 4pm on Monday, with Rosary at 9pm. Removal to St. Brigid's Church, Ballinakill for 11am Requiem Mass on Tuesday. Burial afterwards in St. Brigid's Cemetery. House private on Tuesday morning please.

Ethel Richardson - Mountrath 

The death took place on Sunday, February 11 of Ethel Richardson (née McCourt) of Crannagh, Mountrath.

Died peacefully in the care of the staff of Ballard Nursing Home Portlaoise. Pre-deceased by her husband Bob. Deeply regretted by her sister Doris (Peg) U.K, brother Sammy, nieces Oonagh and Moira, nephew Denis, and her special friend and cousin Frances, relatives, friends and her very kind neighbours.

Ethel will repose in her home on Monday from 6pm to 8pm. Funeral service on Tuesday morning at 11am in the Methodist Church, Portlaoise. Burial afterwards in St John The Baptist Church grounds, Ballyfin.

Anne Mulhall - Mountrath

The death took place on Sunday, February 11 of Anne (Nan) Mulhall (née Dowling) of Bawnree, Mountrath. 

Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family in the tender care of Matron and staff of St. Vincent's Hospital, Mountmellick (Sr. Martha's Ward). Wife of the late Jack. Deeply regretted by her son John, daughter Annette, grandchildren, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, brothers, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at her residence on Monday evening from 6pm with Rosary at 9pm. Removal on Tuesday evening at 6.30pm to St. Fintan's Church, Raheen arriving at 7pm. Funeral Mass on Wednesday at 11.30am followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations, if desired, to St. Vincent's Hospital, Mountmellick.

Robina Moody - Mountmellick

The death took place on Saturday, February 10 of Robina Moody of Irishtown, Mountmellick.

Formerly of Clongarrett, Clonbullogue. Peacefully, in her home. Sister to Hilda, Irene, Albert, Billy, Susan and Yvonne, predeceased by her father William, mother Pearl and brother Trevor. Sadly missed by her loving family, brothers in law Trevor, Jim, Robin and partner Eric, sisters in law Florence and Joan, nieces and nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Billy and Florence’s Home on Tuesday. Funeral Service Wednesday at 1.30pm at St. Paul's Church, Mountmellick, followed by burial at St. Kevin's Graveyard, Clonbullogue.
