Deaths in Laois - May 9, 2018

Charles Doherty - Galmoy and Rathdowney

The death took place on Tuesday, May 8 of Charles (Charlie) Doherty of Levalley, Galmoy and Rathdowney. 

Unexpectedly at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise. Charles (Charlie), predeceased by his brother Joe and his sisters Bridget and Peg. Deeply regretted by his brother Sean and his sisters Ann, Kay, Teresa and Betty, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at his residence at Levalley on Thursday evening from 5pm with rosary at 9pm. Funeral Mass in The Church Of The Immaculate Conception, Galmoy on Friday at 11am followed by burial in the adjoining Cemetery. 

Martin Walsh - Durrow

The death took place on Tuesday, May 8 of Martin Walsh of Carrigan Street, Durrow.

After a long illness bravely borne. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Angela, brothers Michael and Andrew, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and a large circle of friends. Reposing at his residence from 2.30pm until 8.30pm on Wednesday with Rosary at 8.30pm.

Removal at 10.30am on Thursday for Requiem Mass at 11am in the Church of the Holy Trinity, Durrow with burial immediately afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. 

Brendan O'Connor - Durrow

The death took place on Monday, May 7 of Brendan O'Connor of Cloonsilla, Gurteen, Co. Sligo and formerly of Durrow.

Peacefully surrounded by his loving family, at Sligo University Hospital. Brendan will be sadly missed by his beloved wife Kitty, children Kenneth, Karen and Brendan, sister Margaret, brother Seán, son-in-law Brendan, daughter-in-law Sinéad, grandchildren Niamh, Conor, Alannah and Cara, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Perry’s Funeral Home, Ballymote on Wednesday evening from 4pm until 7pm. Removal to St. Patrick’s Church, Gurteen, arriving at 8pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Thursday at 11.30am with burial afterwards in Gurteen Cemetery. 

Br. Adrian Shortall - Castletown

The death took place on Monday, May 7 of Br. Adrian (John) Shortall of De La Salle Brothers, Miguel House, Castletown and late of Kilfrush, Knocklong, Co. Limerick and Kenmare, Co. Kerry.

Predeceased by his sisters, Eileen and Mary, brother Jim, niece Ann and nephew Jimmy. Deeply regretted by his sister Sara (Sr. Gertrude, Presentation Sisters Galway), nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives and wide circle of friends and confreres in religion.

Reposing in Miguel House from 11am on Wednesday with Evening Prayer and Rosary at 8pm. Funeral Liturgy and Mass on Thursday at 2pm. Burial immediately afterwards in the Monastery cemetery.

James Lynam - Emo

The death took place on Friday, May 4 of James ( Jimmy) Lynam of Finglas West, Dublin and formerly of Emo and late of Unidare

Peacefully at Connolly Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Loving father of the late Teresa and brother of the late Mary O’Rourke. Sadly missed by his heartbroken wife Elizabeth (Betty), sons Eddie, Maurice, Shay, daughter Marie, daughter-in-law Jean, son-in-law Albert, grandchildren Ed, Andy, Dave, Alan, Christine and Matt, 13 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Bob, nephews, nieces, neighbours and friends.

Reposing in Fanagans Funeral Home, Church Street, Finglas, on Tuesday with family in attendance between 4pm and 6pm. Removal on Wednesday morning to the Church of The Annunciation, Finglas West, arriving for 10am Requiem Mass. Funeral thereafter to Glasnevin Crematorium.
