Deaths in Laois - May 23, 2018

Edmund Purcell - Portlaoise

The death took place on Monday, May 21 of Edmund Purcell of Grattan St., Portlaoise. 

Suddenly at his residence. Predeceased by his father Eddie and sister Fiona. Loving son to his heartbroken mother Mary. Dearly loved brother to Colette, David, Declan, Brian and Anne. Deeply regretted by his loving family, uncles, aunts, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Keegans Funeral Home from 6.30pm on Wednesday evening with rosary at 8pm. Removal on Thursday morning to arrive at SS Peter and Paul’s Church for 10am Mass. Interment afterwards in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Portlaoise.

Jadish Raj - Mountmellick 

The death took place on Friday, May 18 of Jadish Raj of c/o The Meelick Inn, Mountmellick and formerly India.

Suddenly. Deeply regretted by his family, relatives and friends.

Funeral Arrangements to be announced later. 

Mary Duggan - Mountrath 

The death took place on Monday, May 21 of Mary Duggan (née Ryan) of Fr. O'Connor Crescent, Mountrath. 

Surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her husband Tom, son Martin and daughter Teresa, deeply regretted by her son Thomas, daughters Mary, Catherine and Michelle, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Burke's Funeral Home Mountrath on Tuesday evening from 7pm, with Rosary at 9pm. Removal on Wednesday morning to St. Fintan's Church Mountrath, for Funeral Mass at 11am, followed by burial in St. Fintan's Cemetery.

Kathleen Walsh - Borris-in-Ossory

The death took place on Sunday, May 20 of Kathleen Walsh (née Ryan) of Church View, Borris-in-Ossory. 

Peacefully in the care of the Staff at the Villa Marie, Nursing Home, Roscrea. Deeply regretted by her loving husband James (Jim), son Jim, nieces, nephews, extended family, relaives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Guilfoyle's Funeral Home, Castletown, Mountrath on Monday evening from 6pm with Rosary in the funeral home at 9pm. Removal on Tuesday evening at 7pm to St. Canice's Church, Borris in Ossory arriving at 7.30pm. Funeral Mass on Wednesday morning at 11am with burial immediately afterwards in Derrinsallagh cemetery, Borris-in-Ossory.

Emily Dowling - Stradbally

The death took place on Friday, May 18 of Emily Dowling (née Phelan) of Vicarstown, Stradbally and formerly the  Pike of Rushall, Castletown.

Peacefully at The Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise. Beloved wife of the late William and dear mother of Bernadette, Veronica, Declan and James. Sadly missed and remembered with love by her family. nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.

Reposing at her home in Vicarstown from 6pm this Monday evening with Recital of The Rosary at 9pm. Removal on Tuesday to The Church of The Assumption, Vicarstown arriving for 7.30pm. Funeral Mass on Wednesday in The Sacred Heart Church, Stradbally at 11am. Interment to follow in Oakvale Cemetery, Stradbally.
