Deaths in Laois - June 8, 2018

John O'Shea - Durrow

The death took place on Friday, June 8 of John O'Shea of Swan Road, Durrow and Annascaul, Kerry. 

Retired An Garda Siochana. Peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He will be sadly missed by his wife Mary, daughters Marian, Siobhan, Càit and son Bernard, his brother Eamon (Ned), sister Norah, brothers-in-law Paddy, Brian and Noel, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, nieces, nephews, his nine grandchildren and a large circle of friends.

Reposing at his daughter Marian Allen's residence, Swan Road, Durrow from 2pm to 9pm on Saturday with Rosary at 9pm.

Removal on Sunday morning at 10.30am to the Church of the Holy Trinity, Durrow arriving at 11am for Requeim Mass with burial immediately afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

Walter Hurley - Ballyadams

The death took place on Thursday, June 7 of Walter Hurley of Rath-Hurley, Cappanafeacle, Ballyadams. 

Suddenly, at his residence. Brother of the late Marie. Deeply regretted by his loving brother Gerald, nephews Henry and Walter, cousins, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Rigney's Funeral Home, Athy from 6pm on Friday with Rosary at 8pm. Removal at 10.30am on Saturday morning to arrive at St. Joseph's Church, Ballyadams for Requiem Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in the Old Cemetery, Ballyadams.

Paul O'Connell - Mountmellick

The death took place on Wednesday, June 6 of Paul O'Connell of Lucan, Dublin and formerly of Mountmellick.

Peacefully, at his home. Beloved husband of the late Bridget and dear father of Mark and David. Sadly missed by his loving sons, granddaughter Hannah, brothers Desmond and Mark, sister Mary, relatives and friends.

Reposing at his home on Sunday afternoon from 3pm to 6pm. Removal to St. Patrick’s Church, Esker, Lucan on Monday morning arriving for Requiem Mass at 10am followed by burial in Esker Cemetery.

Edward Baldwin - Maganey

The death took place on Wednesday, June 6 of Edward (Eddie) Baldwin of Ballyfoyle, Maganey and Kilmacthomas, Waterford.

Peacefully in the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise surrounded by his loving and devoted family. Predeceased by his son Billy and his grandson Anthony. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Agnes, sons John, Hugh, Patsy, Eamon, Peter, Paul, Bernard, Anthony and his daughter Mary. Sadly missed by his daughters-in-law, partners, his 28 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, neighbours and a large circle of friends.

Reposing at his residence from 2pm on Thursday, with Recital of the Rosary at 8pm on Thursday evening. Removal on Friday morning at 11.15am to arrive at Saint Abban's Church, Killeen for 12 noon Requiem Mass. Interment to follow in adjoining cemetery. 

Anne Murphy - Durrow 

The death took place on Wednesday, June 6 of Anne Murphy (née Byrne) of Dunmore, Durrow and Terenure, Dublin

Peacefully, after a brief illness, in the presence of her loving family. Formerly of St. Martin's Park, Terenure, Dublin. Beloved wife of Thomas and loving mum of Karen, Barry and Paul. Much loved and sadly missed by her husband, daughter, sons, daughters-in-law, brothers and sisters and her large circle of family and friends.

Reposing at Murphy's Funeral Home, Irish St., Bunclody, Co. Wexford, on Saturday with removal at 1.30pm to the Church of The Most Holy Trinity, Bunclody, for Requiem Mass at 2pm, followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery, Bunclody. 

John Maher - Durrow 

The death took place on Tuesday, June 5 of John Maher of Dunmore, Durrow. 

Peacefully at Beaumont Hospital, Dublin. Deeply regretted by his sisters Kate and Nancy, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces. great-grandnephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Phelan's Funeral Home, Durrow from 2pm on Thursday with Rosary at 8pm. Removal to Holy Trinity Church, Durrow on Friday morning for Requiem Mass at 11am. Burial immediately afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Mary Slattery - Portlaoise 

The death took place on Tuesday, June 5 of Mary Slattery (née O'Reilly) of Lyndon Court, Portlaoise and formerly Carbury, Co. Kildare. Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. Mary, dearly loved wife to Dermot. Loving daughter to Pat and Maureen and cherished sister to Gerard. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Reposing at her residence from 6pm on Thurdsay evening until 8pm. Removal to Newlands Crematorium on Friday for Cremation service at 2.30pm.

Michael Carroll - Portlaoise and Timahoe 

The death took place on Monday, June 4 of Micheal Carroll of Borris Rd., Portlaoise and late of Timahoe.

Suddenly. Predeceased by his brother Martin and sister Lulu. Deeply regretted by his daughter Natalie, son Evan, parents Michael and Angela, sisters Emer, Angie, and Breíd, brothers Damien, Fergal, and Enda, also Angela, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Keegans Funeral Home, Portlaoise from 5pm on Thursday evening with rosary at 8pm. Removal on Friday to St. Michael's Church, Timahoe to arrive for 12 noon Requiem Mass. Burial afterwards in Timahoe Cemetery.
