Deaths in Laois - November 7, 2018

Mena Hill - Abbeyleix

The death took place on Tuesday, November 6 of Mena Hill of Castleblayney, Monaghan and formerly of Rathmoyle, Abbeyleix. 

Peacefully, in the loving care of St. Mary's Hospital, Castleblaney. Deeply regretted by her loving family, relatives and friends.

Reposing at St. Mary's Hospital Oratory, Castleblaney, on Wednesday from 12 noon until 6pm. Reposing in the Chapel of Adoration adjoining The Church of The Most Holy Rosary, Abbeyleix on Thursday from 6pm with recital of the Rosary at 9pm. Removal to The Church of The Most Holy Rosary, Abbeyleix, on Friday morning for 11am Requiem Mass, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Joachim Petrus Nel - Mountmellick 

The death took place on Monday, November 5 of Joachim Petrus Nel of O'Moore Street, Mountmellick and formerly of South Africa.

Survived by his wife Fredrika Nel, daughters Kerry-Ann Van der Merue and Maritza Smit, son Gerhard Nel, sons-in-law Coenraad Van der Merue and Gerhard Smit, daughter-in-law Nicky Nel, grandchildren, brother, sister, relatives and friends.

Removal from Moloneys Funeral Home on Saturday at 12.45pm to The Methodist Church, Mountmellick for Funeral Service at 1pm. Burial afterwards in Acragar Cemetery, Mountmellick.

Kevin Bowe - Portlaoise 

The death took place on Monday, November 5 of Kevin Bowe of 66 Marian Ave, Portlaoise. 

Peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Loving husband of Marie and adored father to Suzanne, Kevin, Robert, Sandra, Paul and Kenneth. Brother to Betty, Patty and Frank. Predeceased by his brothers Denis and Brendan. Deeply regretted by his sons and daughters-in-law and his beloved grandchildren, aunts, nieces, nephews, extended family relatives and friends.

Reposing at his home Tuesday from 4pm to 8pm followed by the rosary. Leaving his home on Wednesday at 1.15pm to arrive at SS Peter & Paul's Church for 2pm Requiem Mass followed immediately by burial at SS Peter & Paul's Cemetery. 

Daniel Norton - Portlaoise

The death took place on Monday, November 5 of Daniel (Dan) Norton of Sheffield Ave, Portlaoise. 

Beloved husband of Margaret and pre-deceased by his son Michael. Much loved father of Mary, Martin, Donie, Margaret, Patrick, Gregory and Sheldon. Deeply regretted by his loving family, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives and friends.

Reposing at his home this Monday evening from 7pm with rosary recital at 9pm. Removal to SS Peter & Paul's Church on Tuesday at 5.15pm to arrive for 6pm. Requiem Mass on Wednesday at 10am with interment afterwards in SS Peter & Paul's Cemetery.

Bill O'Reilly - Portlaoise

The death took place on Monday, November 5 of Bill O'Reilly of "Marian House", Dublin Rd., Portlaoise. 

Peacefully surrounded by his family. Ex fruit merchant. Beloved husband of Maura and dearly loved dad to Fiona (McCann), Miriam O'Reilly, Melissa Bourke, William and Peter. Cherished grandfather to Donnacha, Muireann, Clodiagh, Fiadh, Coyle and Roan, great-grandchild Kyra-May. Deeply regretted by his family, brothers Martin and Jas and sister Eileen, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Keegans funeral home from 5pm on Tuesday with rosary at 8pm. Removal on Wednesday to SS Peter and Paul’s Church to arrive for 12noon requiem Mass. Interment afterwards in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery.

Joseph (Lar) Finn - Errill

The death took place on Sunday, November 4 of Joseph (Lar) Finn of Clonmeen, Errill. 

Peacefully, at Portlaoise Hospital. Sadly mourned by his wife Ann and his family, Mary (Clavin), Michael, Matt and Rosie, John and Grainne, Eileen (Dollard), sons-in-law Shane and Ollie, grandchildren Annie, Ben and Tommy, his brother Tom, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, niece's, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at his home at Clonmeen on Tuesday evening from 6pm with rosary at 8pm. Funeral Mass on Wednesday at 11am in The Church Of Our Lady, Queen Of The Universe, Errill, followed by burial in Rathdowney local cemetery.
