Deaths in Laios - December 17, 2018

Georgina Vanston - Mountrath

The death took place on Sunday, December 16 of Georgina Vanston (née Martyn) of Redcastle, Mountrath. 

Peacefully, in her 97th year, in the loving tender care of staff at Brookhaven, Nursing Home, Ballyragget. Predeceased by her husband George, deeply regretted by her daughters Sylvia and Olive, son Harry, sister Alice, sons-in-law William and Lionel, daughter-in-law Mary, grandchildren, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Brookhaven Nursing Home, Ballyragget, on Monday evening from 7pm with prayers at 8pm. Funeral arriving on Tuesday to St. Peter's Church Mountrath, for Funeral Service at 2.30pm, followed by burial in the adjoining churchyard.

Carmel Bracken - Portlaoise  

The death took place on Saturday, December 15 of Carmel Bracken of Craydon Court, Portlaoise, and late of Borris Rd, Portlaoise. Peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Beloved wife of the late Tommy and dearly loved mam to Marti and Tommy. Deeply regretted by her loving family, brother Ted, sisters-in-law, Rose, Patricia, Rita and Bibi, daughter-in-law Mari, cherished grandchildren Mark and Eve, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at her residence from 5pm on Sunday evening with rosary at 8pm. Removal on Monday morning to SS Peter and Paul's Church, Portlaoise, to arrive for 11.30 Requiem Mass. Interment will follow afterwards in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Portlaoise.

Brigid Delaney - Mountmellick

The death took place on Saturday, December 15 of Brigid Delaney of Killeen, Mountmellick. 

Peacefully at home, surrounded by her family. Much loved daughter of Frank and Agnes and sister of Eamonn, John, Frank, Mona and Terry. Brigid will be very sadly missed by her heartbroken parents, brothers, sister, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbours and a large circle of friends.

Reposing in Moloney's Funeral Home, Mountmellick, on Monday evening from 5pm, with recital of the rosary at 8pm. Requiem Mass on Tuesday at 12 noon in St. Paul’s Church, Emo, burial afterwards in the New Cemetery, Emo.

Edmund Handcock - Rathdowney

The death took place on Friday, December 14 of Edmund Handcock formerly of Middlemount House, Rathdowney. 

At St. Andrew's Hospice, Grimsby, UK. Sadly missed by his sons John and Brian, brothers John, Bertie and Reggie daughter-in-law, grandchildren, extended family, relatives and friends.

Cremation Service to take place on December 28th in Grimsby.

Teresa Conroy - Portlaoise

The death took place on Friday, December 14 of Teresa (Tess) Conroy (nee O'Brien), Galway and formerly of Rathleague, Portlaoise and Tullamore.

Predeceased by her husband Jay and daughter Terri. Peacefully at home in the loving care of her family. Deeply regretted by her son Martin, daughters , Jacinta (Mahony USA) , Elaine (Gillmore Galway) and Cepta (Halpin Wicklow), sons in law Luke, Gerard, and Peter, brother Gerald and sister in law Maureen, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at her daughter Elaine's residence at Killooney , Dunmore Co. Galway from 4pm till 8pm on Sunday. Removal on Monday to arrive at SS Peter and Pauls Church Portlaoise for 1pm Requiem Mass. Interment will take place afterwards in SS Peter and Pauls cemetery Portlaoise.

John Doheny - Mountrath 

The death took place on Sunday, December 9 of John Doheny of Birmingham, England and late of Fr. O`Connor Crescent, Mountrath. 

Unexpectedly. Deeply regretted by his parents Jackie and Margaret, brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Funeral Arrangements will be announced later. 

Deirdre Giltrap - Rathdowney 

The death took place on Friday, December 14 of Deirdre Giltrap (née O'Gorman) of The Square, Rathdowney. 

Peacefully at her residence in the presence of her family. Sadly mourned by her son Jonathan and her daughter Zoe (MacCourt), daughters in law Dee and Ruth, son in law Gervase, her beloved grandchildren Breffni, Alannah, Nia, Anton, Ella, Jude and Thady, her great-grandchildren Alfie and Sophie,  her sisters Regina and Barbara, her brother Kevin, brothers-in-law Jack and Michael, sister-in-law Eileen and her loyal friend Mick Jenner. Also remembering her son Anton and all deceased members of her family.

Reposing at her residence on Saturday with funeral prayers at 6.15pm followed by removal to The Church of The Holy Trinity, Rathdowney. Funeral Mass on Sunday at 11am followed by burial in Bealady Cemetery, Rathdowney.
