Deaths in Laois - February 26, 2019

Eileen O'Leary - Ballybrittas

The death took place on Monday, February 25 of Eileen O'Leary (née Barnes) of Ballintogher, Ballybrittas. 

Peacefully surrounded by her family at the Regional Hospital Tullamore. Deeply regretted by her loving husband Jimmy, family Hubert, Annette, John and Caroline, sisters Sheila, Mary and Alice son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends.

 Reposing at Maher's Chapel of Rest, Portarlington on Tuesday from 7pm with Rosary at 9pm. Removal on Wednesday at 11.15am arriving St John's Church, Killenard for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Fr Jack Rodgers - Portarlington 

The death took place on Sunday, February 24 of Fr Jack Rodgers SPS of St Patrick’s Missionary Society, Kiltegan, Co. Wicklow and formerly of Cappamore, Co. Limerick, Kitui Diocese (Kenya), Archdiocese of São Paulo (Brazil) and Ballymorris, Portarlington.

Suddenly, at his home in Ballymorris. Very sadly missed by his sisters Mary Collins (Killaloe) and Kathleen (Dublin), by his brother Joseph (Wickford, UK), by his sister-in-law Mary, by his brother-in-law Sean Collins, by his nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, his relatives and friends and by his Society family.

Reposing at Mahar's Chapel of Rest, Portarlington on Wednesday from 4pm. Removal at 6.30pm arriving St Paul's Church, Emo for 7.30pm Mass. Removal on Thursday morning at 9.30am from St Paul's Church, Emo, arriving St Patrick's, Kiltegan, for Funeral Mass at 12 noon followed by burial in the Society Cemetery.

Michael Pyne - Portlaoise

The death took place on Sunday, February 24 of Michael Pyne of St. Brigid's Place, Portlaoise and formerly of Regaile, Thurles.

Unexpectedly, at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise. Michael, deeply regretted by his brothers John, Dominic, Willie and Tom, sisters Bridie, Margaret, Theresa, Bernie and Kathleen, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Devitt’s Funeral Parlour, Cashel on Tuesday evening from 5.30pm with Removal at 7.30pm to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Boherlahan. Requiem Mass on Wednesday at 11.30am followed by Burial in the adjoining Bianconi Cemetery.

Christy Dunne - Ballylinan

The death took place on Sunday, February 24 of Christy Dunne of Drimroe, Ballylinan. 

Peacefully, at Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise. Beloved brother of Esther (Jo) Brennan, Ballyadams. Predeceased by his loving parents Christopher and Margaret, brother Johnny, sisters Betty, Maureen and Gretta. He will be sadly missed by his dear sister, brother-in-law Andy, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Reposing at his niece Antoinette's Brennan Kealy's residence, Parkhill, Ballyadams from 12 noon on Tuesday with Rosary at 8pm. Removal by Rigney's Funeral Director's at 11.45am on Wednesday morning to arrive at St. Joseph's Church, Ballyadams for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Ballyadams. 

Robert Thompson - Mountmellick

The death took place on Sunday, February 24 of Robert Thompson of Greystones, Wicklow and formerly of Mountmellick. Peacefully after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family. Deeply missed by his wife Marion, sons, Tom, Adrian, Eric, Jonathan and Philip, daughters-in-law, Sunet, Deborah and Anne, grandchildren Daniel, Ciara, Zack, River and Wilde, brothers -in-law,sisters- in- law, extended family relatives and friends.

Funeral Service in Greystones Presbyterian Church, Trafalgar Road, Greystones on Tuesday at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in Redford Cemetery (The Grove) Greystones.

Martin Bennett - Mountrath 

The death took place on Saturday, February 23 of Martin Bennett of Clonard, Mountrath. 

Peacefully, at the Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise, surrounded by his loving family. Devoted husband of Maureen, loving father to Peter, Maureen (Dowling), Kathleen (Dunne), Martin, Brenda, and Helen (Phelan), and brother to Kathleen Connor. Martin will be sadly missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, sister, extended family and friends.

Reposing at Burke's Funeral Home Mountrath on Sunday evening from 4pm with Rosary at 8pm. House private on Monday and also Tuesday morning. Requiem Mass on Tuesday morning at 11am in St. Edmund's Church Castletown, followed by private cremation in Newlands Cross Crematorium.
