Deaths in Laois - February 28, 2019

Liam Devoy - Ballyadams

The death took place on Wednesday, February 27 of Liam Devoy of Kilnamanagh, Dublin and formerly of Ballyadams.

Peacefully at Tallaght Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Beatrice and adored father of Lisa, Noelle, Martin and Patrick, sadly missed by his loving grandchildren Ciaran, Conor, Anna, Kate, Orla, Ciara, Eoin, Daniel, Aidan, Ronan, Demi, Dion and the late Aoife, sons-in-law Wayne and Derek, daughters-in-law Susan and Nicola, brother Noel, sisters Julia and Bridget, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and a large circle of friends.

Reposing at his home on Friday from 5pm until 8pm. Removal on Saturday to St. Kevin’s Church, Kilnamanagh arriving for 10am Funeral Mass and afterwards to Newlands Cross Cemetery. 

Anna Bergin - Mountmellick and Portarlington

The death took place on Wednesday, February 27 of Anna Bergin of Graigue, Mountmellick and formerly Treascon, Portarlington.

Peacefully, in the care of Dromnin Nursing Home, Stradbally in her 90th year. Predeceased by her sister Una, brothers James and Gerard. Deeply regretted by her sisters-in-law Ann and Mary, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Moloney's Funeral Home, Mountmellick, on Thursday from 4.30pm with removal at 6.15pm to St Joseph's Church, Mountmellick, arriving at 6.30pm. Requiem Mass on Friday at 11am and burial afterwards in St Michael's Cemetery, Portarlington.

Christopher Cuddy - Castletown

The death took place on Friday, February 8 of Christopher (Chris) Cuddy of Levenshulme, Manchester and formerly of St. Patrick's Tce., Castletown.

Unexpectedly, in England. Predeceased by his parents Christy and Mary (nee Phelan). Deeply regretted and will be sadly missed by his loving brother Michael, sister Pauline (Byrne), brother in law Pat, nicces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing in Guilfoyle's Funeral Home, Castletown, Mountrath this Friday evening from 6pm with rosary in the funeral home at 9pm. Removal on Saturday morning at 11.45pm to St. Edmund's Church Castletown for Funeral Mass at 12 noon, with burial immediately afterwards in Churchtown cemetery, Castletown.

Margaret Joyce - Mountmellick

The death took place on Tuesday, February 26 of Margaret Joyce (née Erbach) of Derrydavey, Mountmellick, and late of Chicago.

Peacefully, under the tender care of the staff in Drominin Nursing Home, Stradbally. Deeply regretted by her loving husband Patrick, sons Brian, Pat, Kevin, John, daughters Mary, Theresa, Kathleen, Colleen, grandchildren and great grandchildren, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, nieces and nephews, her life long friend Joan and extended family and friends.

Reposing in Moloneys Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6.30pm, with recital of the Rosary at 9pm. Prayers in the Funeral Home on Thursday at 10am. Removal at 10.45am to St. Joseph's Church, Mountmellick for 11am Mass. Burial after in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Fr Jack Rodgers - Portarlington 

The death took place on Sunday, February 24 of Fr Jack Rodgers SPS of St Patrick’s Missionary Society, Kiltegan, Co. Wicklow and formerly of Cappamore, Co. Limerick, Kitui Diocese (Kenya), Archdiocese of São Paulo (Brazil) and Ballymorris, Portarlington.

Suddenly, at his home in Ballymorris. Very sadly missed by his sisters Mary Collins (Killaloe) and Kathleen (Dublin), by his brother Joseph (Wickford, UK), by his sister-in-law Mary, by his brother-in-law Sean Collins, by his nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, his relatives and friends and by his Society family.

Reposing at Maher's Chapel of Rest, Portarlington on Wednesday from 4pm. Removal at 6.30pm arriving St Paul's Church, Emo for 7.30pm Mass. Removal on Thursday morning at 9.30am from St Paul's Church, Emo, arriving St Patrick's, Kiltegan, for Funeral Mass at 12 noon followed by burial in the Society Cemetery.
