Deaths in Laois - March 29, 2019

Noel Colsh - Abbeyleix

The death took place on Thursday, March 28 of Noel Colsh of Gort na noir, Abbeyleix. 

Predeceased by his wife Kathleen. Peacefully, in the Regional Hospital Portlaoise. Deeply regretted by his loving daughter Kerry, granddaughters Patricia, Donna and Catriona, grandson Patrick, great-grandson Cody, brother Tom, sister Kathleen, nephews, nieces, family and friends.

Reposing at his residence from 2pm on Friday with rosary at 9pm. Removal to the Church Of The Most Holy Rosary, Abbeyleix, for 12 noon Requiem Mass on Saturday. Burial afterwards in St. Patrick's Cemetery. 

William Breen - Portlaoise 

The death took place on Wednesday, March 27 of William (Billy) Breen of Mary B Mitchel Close, Inbhear Mór Park, Arklow and formerly of Portlaoise.

Suddenly at St. James’ Hospital, Dublin. William (Billy) beloved husband of Anne (née Murphy) and loving father of Patricia, Billy, Bridgid, Mary, Ciara, Jaimie, Brandon, James, Jason and Leon. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, sons, daughters & their partners, grandchildren, brother Tom, sisters Esther and Sandra, father-in-law Jimmy, mother-in-law Brigid, uncles, aunts, cousins, relatives, friends and neighbours.

Billy will be reposing at his home on Saturday from 3pm to 8pm, with removal Sunday afternoon at 12.40pm to St. Joseph’s Church, Templerainey arriving for Mass at 1pm, followed by burial in St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, Arklow. 

Pat Cullen - Ballbrittas 

The death has occurred of Pat Cullen of Fisherstown, Ballybrittas. 

Died at the Regional Hospital Tullamore. Son of the late Patrick and Margaret Cullen. Sadly missed by the Hyland family, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Maher's Chapel of Rest Portarlington on Sunday from 7pm with Rosary at 8pm. Removal on Monday at 11:20am arriving Church of the Sacred Heart Rath for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Funeral afterwards to St Evin's Cemetery Monasterevin. 

Maureen Doyle - Timahoe 

The death took place on Thursday, March 28 of Maureen Doyle (née Moore) of Lickeen, Roundwood, Wicklow and late of Garryglass, Timahoe.

Former teacher in Trooperstown National School and Rathdrum Boys National School. Peacefully in the care of the staff at Dargle Valley Nursing Home, surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of the late Bernard. Sadly missed by her loving sons Andrew, Donal, Brian, Seamus, Conor and John, daughters Eithne and Bernice, grandchildren, daughters in law, sons in law, brother Dick, brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at her home from 12 noon on Friday. Funeral Mass on Saturday at 2pm in Clara Vale Church with burial afterwards in Glendalough Cemetery.  

John Conway Domoney - Ballyroan

The death took place on Wednesday, March 27 of John Conway Domoney of Delgany, Wicklow and formerly of Monkstown, Co. Dublin and Ballyroan.

In his 96th Year, after a short illness. Peacefully in the care of St. Vincent's Hospital, Dublin. Predeceased by his wife Betty. Surrounded by his loving daughters Ann and Mary. Deeply missed by his daughters, sons-in-law Gavin and Pedro, grandaughters Caroline and Fiona, great-grandson Finley, friend Izabella and extended family.

Reposing in the Chapel of Adoration adjoining the Church of The Most Holy Rosary, Abbeyleix from 6pm on Friday with removal at 7pm to St. Patricks Church, Ballyroan arriving 7.30pm. Requiem Mass on Saturday at 10am. Burial afterwards in St. Patrick's Cemetery. 

 Frances Doody - Portlaoise

The death took place on Tuesday, March 26 of Frances Doody of Ridge rd., Portlaoise. 

Peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Deeply regretted by her sister-in-law babs., nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, relatives, great-neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Keegans Funeral Home on Thursday from 6.30pm with rosary at 8pm. Requiem Mass at 12 noon on Friday in SS Peter and Paul’s Church. Interment will follow in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Portlaoise.

Shane O'Neill - Portlaoise and Dublin

The death took place on Tuesday, March 26 of Shane O'Neill of Portlaoise and formerly of Clondalkin, after a long illness bravely borne.

 Surrounded by his family, in the care of the Donal Hollywood Ward of St. James's Hospital. Beloved son of Cathal and Agnes and loving brother of Sarah. Sadly missed by his heartbroken parents, sister Sarah, aunts, uncles, cousins and his close circle of friends.

Shane will be reposing at his home in Clondalkin on Thursday from 5pm to 7pm. Funeral Mass on Friday at 11am in The Sacred Heart Church, Sruleen, Clondalkin and afterwards to Newlands Cross Crematorium.

Nora Phelan - Tullacommon

The death took place on Sunday, March 24 of Nora Phelan (née Holohan) of Fairview, Dublin and late of Tullacommon.

Suddenly, but peacefully at home. Nora, beloved wife of the late Tom and treasured mother of Gerard, Mary, Fiona, James, John and Frank. Very sadly missed by her family, daughters-in-law June, Linda and Alison, grandchildren Thomas, Katie, Conall, Laura and Ella, sisters-in-law Maureen and Mary, cousins, extended family and wonderful friends.

Removal on Thursday evening from the Kirwan Funeral Home, Fairview Strand to Church of the Visitation, Fairview arriving at 5.30pm. Funeral on Friday morning after 11am Mass to Killasmeestia Church, Borris in Ossory arriving for prayers at 3pm approximately followed by burial in adjoining churchyard.
