Jim Brennan - Portarlington

The death took place on Wednesday, December 21 of Jim (James) Brennan of Chapel Lane, Callan, Kilkenny and formerly of Portarlington.

Peacefully, in the care of the staff at Tinnypark Nursing Home, Kilkenny. Beloved husband of Joan and much loved father of Stephen, predeceased son John and daughter Carmel who died in infancy. Sadly missed by his brothers Michael and Billy, sisters May, Carmel and Margaret, daughter-in-law Oonagh, grandchildren Laura, Róisín, and Jack, great-grandchildren Charlie and Paddy, nephews and nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Molloy’s Funeral Home, Callan (Eircode R95 Y443) on Friday, 23rd December, from 5.30pm concluding with Rosary and Vigil Prayers at 7pm. Funeral Prayers on Saturday morning at 10.15am followed by removal to The Church of the Assumption, Callan for Requiem Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in Kilbride Cemetery, Callan.

Ann Lalor - Mountmellick

The death took place on Tuesday, December 20 of Ann Lawlor (née Jordan) of Derryguile, Mountmellick, and formerly of Coolbanagher, Emo.

Peacefully, at home surrounded by her loving family, after a long illness courageously borne. Predeceased by her parents Mary and James Jordan, her sisters Breda and Phil, brother Pat and her son baby Fintan.Deeply regretted by her husband Fintan, sons Michael and Ronan, sisters May (Lynam), Rose (O’Shea), Imelda (Franklin) and Angela (McEvoy), daughter-in-law Laura, adored granddaughters Eve and Tess, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Reposing Moloney's Funeral Home, Mountmellick Thursday from 6pm. Recital of The Rosary at 8pm. Prayers in The Funeral Home Friday at 10am. Removal at 10.20 to Church of The Assumption The Heath for Requiem Mass at 11am.Burial after in the adjoining cemetery.

Rosaleen McGuinness - Stradbally

The death took place on Tuesday, December 20 of Rosaleen Mc Guinness (née Power) of Acergrove, Crannagh, Stradbally. 

Peacefully, at Beaumont Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Wife of Jim and dearly beloved mother of Damien, Sharon, Deirdre, and Aiden. Devoted grandmother of Shannen, Christopher, Emily, Sarah, Laura, Grace, Lilly, Rebecca, Mathew, Adam, Hannah, Erica, Leah, Lucy, Fionn, James, Erin and Lauren. Deeply regretted by her sister Anna and family, niece, Aishling and family, daughters and sons in law Bridget, Nuala, Pat and Declan

Reposing at her home from Thursday 22 from 3pm, with recital of the rosary on Friday, 23 at 8pm. Requiem Mass in St. Joseph Church, Ballyadams at 11am on Saturday, 24th December. Funeral Mass will be streamed on (link to follow). Burial afterwards in St Joseph’s Cemetery, Raheenbarnagh, Co. Laois.

Stuart Dagg - Luggacurren

The death took place on Tuesday, December 20 of Stuart Dagg of Mount Verdent, Luggacurren, Portlaoise. 

Suddenly. Dearly loved and loving husband of Esther and loving father of Graeme and Keith. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, his sons, his daughters-in-law Zara and Cliodhna, his grandchildren Jesse, Kara and Isabelle, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, extended family, friends especially David and neighbours.

The death took place on Tuesday, December 20 of John Walsh of Grattan St, Portlaoise. 

Suddenly, at his residence. Predeceased by his parents Jack and Ann, and brother in law Donal. Dearly loved brother to Pat, Mary and Matt. Deeply regretted by his loving family, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, cousins, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Keegan's Funeral Home, on Thursday evening from 7pm with rosary at 8.30pm. Removal on Friday to SS Peter and Paul's Church for 12 noon requiem Mass https://www.portlaoiseparish.ie/webcam/ Interment immediately afterwards in SS Peter and Paul's Cemetery, Portlaoise. Sheila Dempsey - Killeshin

The death took place on Tuesday, December 20 of Sheila Dempsey (née Murphy) of Killeshin, Co. Carlow, and formerly of Donaguile, Castlecomer, Co. Kilkenny.

Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at her home. Beloved wife of the late Dinny, much loved mother of Liamy, Mary, Bridgie, Denis, John, Rita, Kathleen, Maurice, Michael, Séamus and the late Chrissie, Josie and Bernie and cherished sister of Jimmy, Nora, Maisie and the late John, Mary Anne and Jodie.

She will be sadly missed by her sons, daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sons-in-law Michael, Ken, Willie, Seamus and Stephen, daughters-in-law Mag, Patrice, Maeve, Bernie, Sammy and Karen, brother, sisters, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at her home (Eircode R93 E6P8) from 3pm – 8pm on Thursday, with Prayers at 6.30pm that evening. Removal on Friday at 11.30am to The Holy Cross Church, Killeshin, arriving for Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Fr. Denis Murphy - Crettyard

The death took place on Monday, December 19 of Fr Denis Murphy of Doonane, Crettyard and formerly Upper Grange, Goresbridge, Co Kilkenny.

Peacefully surrounded by his family. Pre-deceased by his parents John and Margaret, brother Eamonn and sisters Rita, Betty Morrissey, Sister Anna (Cross and Passion), Sister Breda (Cross and Passion). He will be sadly missed by Bishop Denis Nulty, fellow Clergymen and colleagues, his nephew, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, relatives, neighbours, parishioners and many friends.

Rosary on Tuesday at 7pm in The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mayo. Arrival in St Abban’s Church, Doonane, (Eircode R93 AT86) on Wednesday at 4pm with Prayers that evening at 7pm. Funeral Mass on Thursday in St Abban's Church, Doonane, at 11am followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Monica Condron - Portlaoise

The death took place on Monday, December 19 of Monica Condron of Ballard Lodge Nursing Home and late of Ferthaun Screggan Mucklagh Co. Offaly. 

Peacefully in the care of the nurses and staff of Ballard Lodge. Deeply regretted by her brothers Alo (Killeigh) and Carthage (Rahan), sister-in-law Breda Condron and brother-in-law Jimmy Curley, nieces, nephews, community and extended family and friends.

Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday 21st December at 12 noon in St. Colman's Church Mucklagh. Burial afterwards in the Old Cemetery, Mucklagh.

William Maycock - Trumera

The death took place on Saturday, December 17 of William (Liam) Maycock of Trumera, Mountrath. 

Sadly missed by his loving wife Joan, and children Craig, Shane, Troy, Rachael and Daniel, his siblings Michael, Rosaleen pre deceased, Sadie, Ann, Martin, Terry and Rita, and his large extended family, grandchildren and friends.

Patrick Mulhall Jnr - Portlaoise

The death took place on Sunday, December 18 of Patrick Mulhall jnr of Kilminchy, Portlaoise and formerly Parnell Street, Thurles.

Peacefully, after a long illness bravely borne, surrounded by his loving family. In the wonderful care of the staff of St. Francis Hospice Blanchardstown, Dublin. Predeceased by his mother Maureen. Sadly missed by his heartbroken family, devoted husband Zeljko, father Pat, sisters Clodagh, Caroline and Angela, brother Brendan, nephews Brian, Eoin, Odhran, Aodhan and Paddy, nieces Grace and Anna, brothers-in-law Paul, Ian and Colin, sister-in-law Alva, step-mother Mary, uncles, aunts, cousins, many friends (especially Elaine and Chanelle) and former colleagues in C&F Quadrant.

Reposing in Hugh Ryan's Funeral Home, Slievenamon Road, Thurles, on Wednesday 21st December from 5pm to 7pm. Arriving at the Cathedral of the Assumption, Thurles, on Thursday at 10.30am for Requiem Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in St Patrick's Cemetery, Thurles. Rita Brophy - Mountrath

The death took place on Sunday, December 18 of Rita (Margaret Mary) Brophy (née Bolger) of Limerick Street, Roscrea and formerly Fr. O’Connor Crescent, Mountrath.

Peacefully, at the Dean Maxwell Nursing Home Roscrea, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her husband John and her son Michael. Dear mother to Ger, Katherine, Lorraine, Philomena and Edward. Deeply regretted by her loving family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, partners, extended family, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Burke’s Funeral Home, Mountrath, on Tuesday evening from 6pm with Rosary at 8pm. Removal on Wednesday morning to St. Fintan’s Church, Mountrath, for Requiem Mass at 10am, followed by burial in St. Fintan’s Cemetery, Mountrath.

James Corby - Clough

The death took place on Saturday, December 17 of James (Jim) Corby of Shanavaughy, Clough. 

Peacefully, at St. Luke's Hospital, Co. Kilkenny. Predeceased by his sisters Ann (Dunphy), Sr. Kathleen, brother Sean, son-in-law Edward Lowry and his late wife Kathleen. Sadly missed by his wife Ann, daughters Paula, Deirdre and Belinda, son-in-law Alan, grandchildren, brother Liam and sisters, Sr. Teresa and Mai (Walker), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposing on Tuesday at his residence (R32 HXF6) from 4pm with prayers at 8.30pm. Funeral Mass on Wednesday at 11am in St. Canice's Church, Clough, followed by interment in Clough Cemetery. 

Shane O'Neill - Portarlington

The death took place on Sunday, December 11 of Shane O'Neill of Church View, Portarlington. 

Tragically, following a drowning accident, in Gran Canaria. Sadly missed by his loving wife Martina, family Jack, Cian and Eimhin, father Hugh, mother Trudy, sister Eimear, brother Darragh, parents-in-law Charlie and Louise, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at his residence (eircode R32 AV90) on Thursday evening 22nd December from 3pm until 8pm. Removal on Friday arriving St Michael's Church Portarlington for Funeral Service at 12 noon. A family Cremation Service to take place later.
