Three Portlaoise housing estates to receive money to prevent flooding

Three Portlaoise housing estates are getting funding to stop flooding, among €410,000 announced for climate change adaptation and flood prevention works in Laois this year.

This includes €30,000 to improve a lake in Kilminchy estate Portlaoise, €40,000 to reinstate full capacity in a water channel in Grange Estate, Portlaoise and €35,000 to do the same for the lake in Glendowns estate in Portlaoise.

The biggest funds are €120,000 for Tinweir in Durrow and €130,000 for Cloncanon, Mountmellick. 

Tower Hill in Portlaoise is getting €40,000 and there is €15,000 for road protection measures at Clonboyne, Portlaoise.

The money is part of a €13.5 million announcement by the Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan that will also fund repairs to certain Laois roads and bridges this year. Full story in above link.
