Bottles are being left at packed banks.
Laois County Council has had to appeal to the public not to abandon empty bottles at the county's bottle banks as the has public surged to recycle after Christmas.
The local authority has issued an appeal on social media as banks overflow around the county.
"Due to the large amount of bottles being recycled at this time of year, you may find that some bottle banks are full. Please do not leave empty bottles outside full bottle banks. The bottle banks will be emptied shortly. Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated," said County Hall.
Meanwhile, the Council has announced a free Christmas tree recycling service for January.
The council will be accept non-artificial Christmas trees for recycling at Kyletalesha Landfill Site on the Portlaoise Mountmellick stretch of the N80 until Saturday, February 1.
Anyone wishing to avail of the free service must ensure that all Christmas tree lights and decorations are removed before the tree is recycled.
