A pile of mattresses collected at a previous Laois Mattress amnesty day.
It is time to dump your old unwanted mattresses in Laois, the legal way and at no cost.
Laois County Council has announced the return of a popular mattress amnesty.
The collection day waives the usual €20 fee to drop a mattress into Kyletalesha recycling centre between Portlaoise and Mountmellick.
This summer the amnesty will again will be held in Portlaoise Rugby Club grounds, located past the Supermac's motorway service station.
The day will take place this weekend during the predicted heatwave, on Saturday, July 12, from 10am to 1.30pm.
Laois County Council's environment section is running the event, funded by money from the Department of the Environment. It is aimed at tackling the widespread problem of dumping in the countryside.

They say that the event is for domestic customers only, and that the mattresses must be clean and dry, so they can be recycled. Only two mattresses per customer.
