The bulky waste amnesty will take place at Portlaoise Rugby Club on Saturday, August 9
Laois County Council has announced a free bulky waste amnesty in Portlaoise on Saturday, August 9.
They are inviting people to bring bulky items like couches and armchairs to Portlaoise Rugby Club on Saturday, August 9.
“The amnesty is open to domestic customers. All items must be clean and dry and there is a maximum of two items per vehicle,” according to the Environment sections of Laois County Council.
The Council regularly holds bulky waste amnesties and it also holds mattress amnesties around the county.
The Mattress and Bulky Waste Amnesties' project in 2022 and 2023 proved very successful, collecting materials from the three Municipal Districts of Laois with over 3,529 mattresses and 253 tonnes of bulky goods collected.
Again in 2024, 729 mattresses and 218 bed bases were collected free-of-charge from the public for recycling on August 3, 2024 through this initiative.
The bulky waste amnesty takes place at Portlaoise Rugby Club on Saturday, August 9 between 10am and 1pm.
