For the 2024 European elections, counties Laois and Offaly are joining Longford, Roscommon, Westmeath, Leitrim, Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Donegal, Cavan, Monaghan, Kildare, Meath and Louth to make up the Midlands-North-West constituency.
The European Elections 2024 Roadshow is part of the EPLO’s nationwide “Use Your Vote” campaign for which events took place in Portlaoise to demonstrate the impact the EU has on the daily lives of people living in Ireland and why they should vote in the European elections.
Speaking from Portlaoise, head of office (acting) of the European Parliament Liaison Office in Ireland, Fionnuala Croker, said: “The European Parliament Liaison Office has launched a nationwide campaign to encourage people to vote in the European elections on 7th June. We chose Portlaoise as one of the roadshow’s four nationwide destinations to mark the new developments for the Midlands-North-West constituency, including the transition of Laois and Offaly to the Midlands-North-West constituency for the 2024 European elections, and the extra seat that’s going to the Midlands-North-West constituency.
“As part of our roadshow we hosted a public information event in partnership with The Wheel. It featured EU funding success stories from the local community and presentations from the Irish National Contact Points for various EU funding programmes so that people could learn more about the EU funding pathways available to their organisation.”
