Laois Local Election Q & A: 'a good track record in getting work done'

Fianna Fáil's Padraig Fleming on why the public should vote for him on June 7

Laois Local Election Q & A: 'a good track record in getting work done'

Padraig Fleming, Fianna Fáil

What are your priorities?

My main priority is to be a voice for the people in my electoral area and represent their views in Laois County Council. I do this both at the meetings of the Municipal District and full County Council monthly meetings and especially in my one-to-one meetings with council officials.

What is the biggest issue facing your area?

Housing is a priority.

Road improvements, road safety measures due to speeding. I work to get traffic calming measures and pedestrian crossings and lights especially at schools/villages, to make sure all are safe at these key locations.

Working with communities and all voluntary groups in my area.

Why do you think you would make a good County Councillor?

I’m a people person and I listen closely to everything the public say. I take on board their points whether it’s a one-to-one situation or as a group and I follow it up directly with Laois County Council, to get the best possible outcome. I have a good track record in representing people and getting work done. I work with community and residents groups to make sure that Laois County Council take in charge fully housing estates so that they will be responsible for the roads, footpaths and lights and Irish Water for water and sewerage. I am involved in community groups, St Fiacc’s House, Graiguecullen. I also worked
with St Fiacc’s Soccer club in Graiguecullen and assisted them acquire land for a new pitch from Laois County Council.

Padraig Fleming is a candidate in the Graiguecullen Portarlington Municipal District. In the lead up to polling day on June 7 The Leinster Express / Laois Live will be featuring profiles on all 47 candidates vying for one of the 19 seats on Laois County Council.
