Gardai posted images of their preparations as thousands of revellers arrived in Laois to enjoy the annual festival.

Laois Offaly’s new Chief Superintendent Anthony Lonergan was at the event. He replaced former Chief Superintendent John Scanlan, who retired in April.

“We had a busy day yesterday with early attendees travelling to Electric Picnic . It's full steam ahead this morning. We've been here since the crack of dawn. Travel safe and enjoyable the day,” Gardai said.

“Chief Superintendent Anthony Lonergan briefing us all over breakfast before we got out to Traffic Points and Campsites,” they said.

They said Garda Superintendent Eamon Curley linked in with the Garda Support Units at the event.
