Laois brewery farm hosts Irish South Africa day

The South African Gathering 2023 will be held on the award-winning Ballykilcavan Farm & Brewery near Stradbally this summer. 

Building on four successful years that have seen thousands of attendees, the Gathering will see hundreds South Africans and their Irish friends converge on Laois for what the organisers are planning to be inclusive, family event, featuring live entertainment, South African foods, arts and crafts, business stalls and camping for those looking to make a weekend out of it.

"We all miss home, and The South African Gathering is an opportunity to share in our diverse culture together, providing us with a little home away from home," say the organisers.

The South African Gathering Ireland was created by Berilyn and Robert Teeling in response to the numerous times their friends spoke of missing home and wishing for a place to meet and enjoy the company of South Africans from around Ireland.

They say this labour of love has turned into a fixture on many a South African's calendar as an annual festival celebrating the rich culture of our motherland.

They aim to continue to grow each year and strive to refine and improve our event for attendees, vendors and sponsors.

"We look forward to meeting our regular guests and hope to meet many more of you each year," the say.

The event takes place on Saturday, July 8.
