The Laois heritage village of Timahoe is revving up for a big truck, tractor and vintage run this May.

The village which is on Ireland's Ancient East tourism map because of its impressive Round Tower, will be rounding up all sorts of engines for an exciting road run on Saturday, May 25.

The second annual Timahoe Truck and Tractor run is organised by the newly formed Timahoe Vintage and Heritage Club.

All proceeds will go towards IT resources for Scoil Mhuire Fatima NS.

Trucks, tractors and vintage vehicles and motorbikes are welcome, with registration in the village from 3pm and the run commencing at 5pm sharp.

Darragh Headen is chairperson of Timahoe Vintage and Heritage Club.

“As a newly formed club, we are very excited about the event. The committee has worked very hard in organising the event and we are hopeful of a big turnout on the day.

“We are very grateful to other organisations in our community for their help and support. We would also like to thank vintage clubs from surrounding parishes in supporting our efforts to publicise the event.

“We hope to see as many Trucks and Tractors, both old and new, in our Heritage Village on the 25th of May," Darragh said.

The run takes place a week before the village surrenders to the vikings again for Timahoe Heritage Festival on June 1 and 2.

This year the festival will also welcome another run, the Gordon Bennett Irish Classic Car Run is making a special stopover in Timahoe this year on Sunday morning, June 2, for a spectacular display of vintage and classic cars.

The Leinster Express / Laois Live has gathered all the big Laois festival events this summer in one handy list to check off.
