Rams to be launched in big style with Laois rockers The Jury
A historic Laois pub has undergone a big renovation and is embarking on an exciting new chapter with the launch
of a music venue called Downtown 101.
Ramsbottom & Sons, the beloved historic pub in downtown Main Street, Portlaoise, is set to embark on an exciting new chapter under the passionate stewardship of Jack Wallace, wife Ann, stepson Billy and son Joey.
It includes plans for their own line of beer and ale and even merchandise.
After years of cherishing the unique charm of "Rams", Jack and Ann took over the helm at the end of 2023 to preserve its rich heritage while introducing a fresh new and dynamic twist.
The back of the pub has been transformed into a vibrant new music venue, Downtown 101.

This space, with its distinctive barn-shaped roofing, offers an open area complemented by cozy annex rooms for chilling out.
Ann says she saw this as an opportunity to create a haven for music lovers and a younger generation.
The official launch of Downtown 101 is set for Friday, May 31 coinciding with the June bank holiday weekend.
There will be live music by The Jury, starting at 9.30pm. To celebrate the launch, finger food will be served, with lots of giveaways on the night and throughout the weekend.
Over the next 12 months, Ramsbottoms will introduce a selection of specialised whiskeys, gins and craft beers, enhancing its beverage offerings.
Additionally, Rams is preparing to launch its own branded beer and ale, aiming to export beyond the county and bring a taste of Ramsbottoms to a broader audience.
In a bid to take the pub experience to the next level, Jack and Ann will also debut an extensive merchandise line in the coming months, allowing patrons to carry a piece of the pub’s legacy with them. From unique keepsakes to stylish apparel, Ramsbottoms merchandise line is set to become a favourite among locals and visitors alike.
Jack, Ann and Billy say that their main focus is the customer.
"We want to create a customer centred bar experience, offering table service where possible on their cocktail, beer and wine menus," Ann said.
