Official search for the 2018 Laois Rose of Tralee is on!

The search is officially on to find this year’s Laois Rose.

The Laois Rose Centre is inviting young women from across the county, who dream of representing Laois at the Rose of Tralee, to apply for the Laois Rose Selection night.

Sports clubs, community groups and businesses are also encouraged to nominate a representative.

Women, aged 18 to 27, can enter the competition via Lyn Moloney and Steve Cronly who are the co-ordinators of this year’s selection which takes place at the Midlands Park Hotel, Portlaoise on Sunday, May 6.

Aspiring Roses can also enter via the Rose of Tralee website. Women are also invited to come along to the official launch later in February.

“We at the Laois Rose Centre are inviting all interested girls, between 18 and 27 years old, to come and meet us at our official launch with our 2017 Laois Rose Maeve Dunne, at the Midlands Park Hotel on Saturday, February 24 from 6pm onwards,” Lyn told the Leinster Express.

“There you will hear about the fantastic experience and journey that awaits you, should you decide to go forward for the Laois Rose 2018.

“We would also like to invite GAA, camogie clubs, societies, groups and businesses to nominate a representative from their respective communities to take part in one of Laois’ annual flagship events,” said Lyn.

Mr Cronly thanked the sponsors and and the Leinster Express which is the print and digital media partner for this year’s event.

“We are delighted to have Laois Shopping Centre as our lead sponsor of the Laois Rose again this year, along with the Midlands Park Hotel where our Laois Rose Selection 2018 will take place on May 6th. We are also grateful to the Leinster Express for their support as media partner,” he said.

Dr Jennifer Byrne is the first ever Offaly Rose to become Rose of Tralee. She urged any young Laois woman who is eligble to enter.

“All I can say to any young woman is to ‘go for it and apply!’ The Rose of Tralee International Festival has truly been the most incredible experience of my life and I hope to encourage as many young women as possible to take part and become their local Rose,” she said.
